"Protectors are people chosen by the royals" Coral piped in. "Royals are the people who have a ultimate power of a element"
"Like?" Sophie asked. She was confused. Confused wasn't a strong enough word.
"Well, there's the queen of shadows" Coral supplied.
"Wait, is she -" Sophie started.
"The voice?" Coral completed. "Yes. She is and she's the one who triggered your shade abilities, that's how it is for all protectors."
"Why were you so surprised then?" Sophie asked.
"No one has heard from the queen in ages," Lady Gisela said.
"Who heard it last? I mean besides me." Sophie asked again.
"Someone named Elrond. He is the only known protector of shadows. Besides you of course."
"Wait a second. How are protectors chosen"
"No one knows," Lady Gisela said. "Listen. Sophie. I am sure you are wondering why the neverseen did things we did. We only regained our memories a few weeks ago. But we don't know anything besides-"
"Regain your memories?" Sophie interrupted.
Lady Gisela sighed. "Yeah. Protectors are supposed to protect people who need protection. We stand up for those who can't. We speak for those whose voice isn't strong enough. But somewhere along the way, someone altered our memories. We don't know who, but they did it. Elrond triggered our memories again."
"If you're wondering how, Lord Elrond went on a mission to Ravagog for the last 14 years or so. His 6 year old daughter went missing and.. well the council thought it was a good idea. And yes he works in the nobility. Only problem for us. No communication" Coral said. "But we got got our memories back. But we only know the basics. What we know is what you know"
Suddenly a very familiar elf barged through the door interrupting. Sophie paled. He wasn't supposed to be there

Sophie is taking this a lot better. Any guesses on the mystery elf. Here's a hint, he is in the original series. But I might not be able to update tomorrow because we have a family gathering going on and I'll be very busy, and if it gets too tiring I might want the next day of too BUT I will post 2 chapters along with a bonus one on Monday.
