Nari's POV
After we've returned to the house I lay out on my bed. The alcohol I enjoyed during dinner has almost worn off and I'm left feeling a little restless. Something feels different, and I don't like things I can't explain. I need to get a handle on my emotions or our time left here will be significantly less fun than we had expected.
The guys are falling over Nyx just as I suspected they would, she's the perfect girl right, and my best friend….so why does it make me feel so weird. Nyx is in the shower, so I decide I should probably hang up at least a few outfits I plan on wearing while I'm here.
I hear the water cut off as I'm still sorting through things. Running across an item I had forgotten I packed, a light bulb goes off in my brain. This is the next best thing to just disappearing for a while. Finishing with my suitcase, I see Nyx sitting on her bed applying her favorite lotion.
I take the opportunity to jump into the shower just quick enough to wash off my makeup and freshen my skin. Exiting the bathroom, I see she is dressed comfortably in the same pajama shorts and a red t-shirt with a chocolate chip cookie with a bite out of it. She tells me that she has plans to spend a few hours gaming tonight, I'm fine with that, I need to be alone.
Giving me a peck on the cheek she heads downstairs. I towel dry and dress in my black strappy bikini; I hate loose clothing so it's definitely on the smaller side, half my ass cheeks hanging out. Oh well, I'm not the one they're after so how I dress means nothing.
Grabbing a fresh towel from the linen closet I make my way downstairs silently, as I cross to the kitchen I barely register the eight people scattered through the sitting area. Stepping into the pantry to grab a bottle of water, I realize it's really quiet; weird, I swear I heard them carrying on. No matter, I just want to get out of here.
As I walk towards the sliding glass door I catch sight of Nyx being led off somewhere by Jungkook. I raise my eyebrows and smile, unsurprised but still amused, have fun with that one Nyx. Closing the door behind me I walk down the steps and pad across the lawn to the glass enclosed pool that I spotted last night. I reach for the door handle, hoping it's not locked. I didn't ask if I could take a swim, they're all busy anyways.
To my relief it is open and I walk in, using my mobile torch to light my way since its nighttime. Walking back to a sort of lounge area at the far end I find a set of switches; flipping each on and off quickly I find the one I like. The underwater lights fill the whole area with a soft blue light. I also find a thermostat for the pool and set it to a mildly warm temperature.
Settling into one of the couches set underneath a curtained canopy I cut my torch light and flip through my phone. I check in with Gemma and Frankie as usual; Frankie sends me a picture of Cas sitting in the passenger seat of her SUV with whip cream all over his nose. I smile and shake my head, she might spoil him more than I do, everyone knows how excited he gets for puppuccinos.
After another ten minutes and a few Webtoon episodes later, I dip my toe into the water to test the temperature, it's perfect. Putting my phone on the nearby table and starting my classical playlist, heavily featuring Yo-Yo Ma and Wu Tong, I take the steps down and slip under the water. Coming up for air, I wipe the water from my eyes and smooth my hair back.
I make a few laps of the pool, letting my tension melt away. I hear the music switch to one of my favorites, and dive under the water to swim to the far end of the pool to be closer to the music. Folding my arms over the ledge I rest my chin on them and let the exquisitely piercing notes of "Rain Falling From Roof'' wash over me. All my senses are tuned into the music, it's euphoric, better than any drug high.
