He had brought her camping for her birthday, for a little father-daughter bonding, and he had gone all out. Tents and sleeping bags around the fire pit, head torches and s'mores. It was one of the first good birthdays Sonny ever had. She had loved camping ever since.
This reminded her of camping.
Sitting around the fire, throwing in branches to keep it lit, listening to it crackle.
The only thing different was the Pogues.
"Hey, guys— so, like, my dad's already gonna kill me. So, what's this mandatory meeting about?"
Pope's question caught Sonny's attention. She turned her head to look at him. It was a good question, she thought. It was about time John B filled them all in— properly, this time. Pope and Kiara were completely out of the loop and, while Sonny had the few details that John B had given her earlier, she wasn't clued in on all the specifics. All she knew was that he'd found a letter from Denmark Tanny (whoever the fuck that was) so they were back in the gold game. The rest of it? Sonny had no idea.
