Chapter 11: Calm Before

Slowly coming to, Slay began to wake up with his vision being blurry for a few moments. As the light filled his eyes, he could hear some slow thumping sounds coming from somewhere. He held the side of his head, shaking a few times before sitting up on the surface he was on.

Talking could be heard as well from a distance. From his perspective, he was able to see a few beings in the same room. He was able to make them out due to the color, seeing one clearly red and pink with the lime green colors around the colored shape.

"H-hey. You're up already?" A familiar voice called out to him which sounded worried and frightened at the same time.

Slay shook his head a few times, his visions of the lights flashing soon fading away and focusing in as the colors and shapes went to where they rightfully belonged. He was then able to see the light, as well as Milley by his side as she looked down at him.

"Wha...?" He suddenly asked as he slowly sat up, holding his head gently. It was banging heavily, making his head spin at that moment. As Milley watched, she walked over to him before placing her hand on his shoulder.

"Don't worry about it." Milley said as she looked over at him as she smiled a bit. "Everything is alright, for the most part." She said as Slay examined her. Even after what happened, she was still injured as she had a few patches on her face and one directly on her muzzle. Despite that, she continued to smile gently towards his way.

"Right..." Slay said as he watched her before looking around the room. It wasn't long before he noticed where they were. At the moment, he was in a bed on the medical floor of their facility. Even so, it didn't stop him from being on his guard just a bit. "So, do you know what happened after that?" He asked.

Milley's ears flattened upon hearing this as she shook her head. "No, not really." She answered as she let out a small sigh. "You see, I think we both passed out after watching them leave. After we both pretty much were beaten by–"

"Zeno." Slay said as he scoffed a bit, holding the end of the blanket that covered him."I don't know what his deal is, but he's a problem that can't be overlooked." He stated, Milley nodding in agreement.

"Still," Milley said as she placed her hand on top of his. "Let's not worry about that right now. We've got other matters on our hands than just Eggman and Zeno." She explained, Slay letting out a small sigh before nodding.

"She's right, you know." A voice called off from the side, grabbing both Slay's and Milley's attention as they looked in that direction. As they looked over, they would see that it's Myra like usual.

Walking inside, the two watched her as she held up her clipboard as she read through it. After some time with both Slay and Milley looking at each other and at her, she looked up from it as she gently sighed. "So while I do have a few things to say and I'm sure you have some questions you want answered, we're still waiting on the others to join us." She explained, Milley and Slay looking at each other confused.

The door slid open, and walked in Slade, Slash and Zai for the time being. As the door closed, Slay looked to the side in the moment as the fox watched in confusion. It was silent for the time being, Slade crossing his arms as the other two stood by his side.

"I guess you're going to reprimand me and her for our actions today, right?" Slay asked as he too crossed his arms. Slash was about to say something, but Slade raised up his hand in the moment to stop her.

"That's not why I'm here." Slade began as he shook his head and crossed his arms again. "One, what happened in Metropolis was yesterday as it's past midnight now." He said, catching both Slay and Milley a bit off guard. "Two, I'm not here to get onto you about being in a situation you had no control over."

Slay did scoff however, which Milley looked back at him in shock as well. "I know I didn't have control over it, but it's not like I could just stand there and do nothing." He said before glaring at Slade. "Where were you when we split up? If I didn't get involved, who knows what could've happened."
