It's been a few days since the attack of Eggman on Station Square. Everything was repaired like nothing happened, and people went back to how things were. It was like nothing really happened that day, and that things went back to normal.
As for Slay and Milley, the two have been working together since. There hasn't been a mission or assignment assigned to them, so in the meantime the two spend their time training. As they would, the two would get closer from their time together through the days. However, they were both unaware that they were being watched from a distance.
One night, it was pretty late as both Slay and Milley were walking to the cafeteria portion of the fifth floor. Once they reached it, they would see that the area was mostly empty, and some places were starting to close up for the day.
"I guess we got here a bit too late." Milley said as she laughed a bit, rubbing the back of her head as they stopped in the middle of the court.
"Looks like it." Slay said as he looked over at her. "That and there are some who just don't live here simply put it." He said as he shrugged. "Still, we should at least get something before they're all closed up." He suggested with Milley giving him a thumbs up in response.
Walking up to one of the remaining places opened, Zai walked up to them with a bag in hand as she smiled slightly. "Oh! Hey you two." She said with a small smile. "I guess you got here too late huh?" She asked.
"Oh hey Zai!" Slay said before he chuckled a bit nervously. "Yeah, that's about right." Slay said as he rubbed the back of his quills.
"We got caught up with some training and as such we lost count." Milley said as well as she laughed a bit.
Zai looked over at the two, glancing at the fox and then over at the hedgehog. This caused the two to exchange looks too before looking over at Zai when she spoke. "It's fine. That just means you haven't heard just yet."
"Heard what?" Milley asked as she raised a brow.
Zai glanced a bit this time before answering. "That we planned on having dinner in the common lounge tonight. Everyone seemed to be working hard, so we decided to eat together."
"Ah." Slay said before he nodded. "Sounds good to me. We'll meet you there after we get out food."
"Alright. See ya then." Zai said with a small nod. With that, she walked out of the room with her tail swaying. At the same time, Milley looked back and watched her before looking back at Slay.
"What?" The hedgehog asked.
Milley shook her head gently. "Nothing. Let's just get out food." She answered.
After getting their food to go, they began to head their way to the lounge of their common room. As they walked side by side, Milley looked around to see a few other mobians talking amongst each other.
"Say, what was all that about?" Milley asked as she looked over at Slay.
Slay raised a brow as he looked back at her. "What do you mean?"
"You know." Milley started as she looked away, then back at him. "With Zai."
Slay thought about it, looking up and over to the side then back over at her. "Now that you mentioned it, I've noticed a few things." Slay said as he shrugged.
"Really?" Milley asked, a bit surprised. "What have you noticed?" She then asked.
"Well, there's our interactions, meetings and such..." Slay began to list a few things. "And there are times I've seen her around."
"Strange..." Milley muttered to herself, both making it to the double doors at the end of the hall.
As they opened up, Slay and Milley walked into the empty lounge, as no one else was around. Slay walked into the kitchen, seeing his bag down before looking around. Milley did the same, however she walked back to the main part of the lounge as she looked around herself.
