Chapter 14: Fight For The Emeralds

All eyes were set on him, thinking of their next move of action. Lydia was frozen in fear after watching Grace fly into the pillar, as Slay held his ground as he let out a growl with his eyes on Zeno. At the same time, Milley looked back and forth at them, starting to head over to where Grace had landed.

"What's the matter?" Zeno asked as he laughed, crossing his arms before speaking. "Are you afraid to attack? Or is there something more?" He asked as well as he looked over at the damage he caused, then over at Slay. "You were right to warn her, too bad she was too dull to even listen to you."

Slay didn't answer him as he held his fists up. At the same time, he looked around to see if anyone else was in the area as well. While this happened, Zeno watched him as he tapped his foot a few times. After a few more moments of silence and tension, the black hedgehog broke it.

"Not gonna talk?" Zeno said as he raised a brow while he uncrossed his arms. "Alright. I'll just take the emerald!" He shouted as he flew towards the Master Emerald with his hand reaching out for it.

"I won't let you!"

As Grace shouted, she burst out of the rubble that was laying on top of her. Milley jumped back upon seeing this, as well as everyone else being shocked from her sudden appearance. Once she landed back on her feet, she held out her hand as she fired a shot of Chaos Energy towards Zeno. He however flew up from the altar, dodging her attack entirely. He then held out his own hand as he fired off a shot towards her. Once the blast hit, it sent her flying into the air again with an explosion behind her.

"G-Grace!" Lydia shouted, panicked as she ran towards where Grace landed. Milley glanced over at Slay who was still at the stairs of the altar. He looked up at Zeno for a moment, then back at the fox.

"Go and take care of Grace with your healing factor. I'll take care of Zeno on my own." Slay said, Milley nodding as she ran after Lydia to follow. After watching her leave, Slay moved his attention to Zeno by looking up at him.

"Hey Zeno!" Slay shouted, getting the hedgehog's attention as he looked down at him. "If you want the emeralds, you're gonna have to go through me first!" He said, pointing at himself as he narrowed his eyes at him.

Zeno watches, then grinned as he chuckled. "If you say so." He said as he extended his arms out. However, he wasn't ready for what came next. Slay suddenly fired off rounds of energy at him, making Zeno dodge and teleport to avoid getting hit. Once Slay let off a bit, Zeno teleported behind Slay before returning fire at him. Slay looked behind and began to run to dodge and avoid his attacks, thinking of his next strategy.

Once Milley made it to the area, Lydia was already holding Grace up while on the ground. She was injured a bit, but wasn't too badly hurt. Amazed by this, Milley walked up to the two echidnas before using her powers to help heal Grace. Grace however held up a hand, stopping Milley as she slowly stood up.

"That's enough. I should be fine from here on out." Grace said as she looked at Milley. "However, thanks." She said before running off back to the fight as both Lydia and Milley watched. Once she made it back to the initial fight, she could see how the fight was playing out between the two.

Milley on the other hand flew up as she grabbed Grace, who was injured very slightly. Milley was amazed by this, watching as Grace began to cough. After a few moments, she looked back at the fox. "I'm fine, don't worry about me." She said, reassuring her before getting out of her grasp.

"Your attempts are futile." Zeno commented as he watched Slay running away. When Zeno stopped firing, Slay turned on his heel and fired a ball of Chaos Energy at him. Zeno however slapped it away as it flew into the sky. "You can not change your fate, no matter how hard you try." He said, the ball exploding behind him once he finished.
