Chapter 9: Milley's Potential

Eggman's forces filled the streets, the mechs marching and shooting around as they destroyed everything around them. At the time, Eggman watched in the comfort of his Egg Mobile with his arms crossed. As he watched, a grin formed on his face as he slightly chuckled as well. However, when he saw Milley flying down towards the conflict, he would fly her way as the canopy opened with a hiss.

"Ah, so we meet again fox." Eggman said, a slight laugh in his speech.

Milley was suspended in the air due to her tails, looking at him with a scowl on her face. Before she answered however, she looked down to see a mech about to attack someone who was escaping. Thinking quickly, she dove down to slam kick the mech down. This gave the mobian time to escape, Eggman lowering down to her level.

"I have a name too you know!" She replied before jumping up with a spin kick to attack a pursuing mech. After she landed the hit, it smashed into another as it exploded on impact. "It's Milley for your information." She growled.

The Egg Mobile flew down to Milley's level, the canopy opening as Eggman sat back with his arms closed. As she turned to face him, the scientist smirked as he raised up his fist. "Your name, or anyone else's, won't matter after I'm done with this world." He said before pointing at himself. "Besides my name when I become the world leader."

Around the same time, a fleet of Egg Pawns gathered around Milley with their weapons up and aiming at her. Once she took notice, she perked up and looked around in shock at them all. At the same time, Eggman's Egg Mobile began to fly up into the air, looking down to watch the fox's struggle.

Milley took a breath, closed her eyes for a moment before jumping at the first Egg Pawn that met her eyes. She landed on its head, and jumped off it to the next one. This caused the one she jumped off of to lose its footing, flying and crashing into the other Egg Pawn next to it as both were destroyed instantly.

The remaining Egg Pawns took aim and began to fire at her with their weapons. Milley watched and stayed quick as she began to jump from one to the other, taking them out as fast as she could. She would go on to take out five of the pawns and leave three more for herself to take on.

One of the Egg Pawns rushed in and would attack her with a punch. However, she was quick on her feet and would counter by grabbing the attack with her tails. She then proceeded to swing the pawn before launching it into one of the other pawns standing together, catching the robot by surprise. Eggman watched as she held his chin high above with an eyebrow raised in curiosity.

The last pawn would rush in as well after recovering from its shock, swinging its bulky arms at her. Milley however jumped up right when it was about to swing, and caused it to stop and look for it. The fox then came back down, slamming her feet into the mech and jumping right off as it blew up in an explosion.

After landing on her feet, Milley began to dust her hands as pieces of debris landed all around her. She was about to turn back and say something snarky to Eggman, until the communicator in her pocket began to go off. She reached in, pulling it out and putting it to her ear to answer.

"Hello? This is Milley." She said, looking from side to side to make sure there were no other mechs around.

"Heya Milley." Kelly replied on the other end of the call. "We got the request for backup in Metropolis as well as general reports. However, you're going to have to fend off Eggman and his forces for the time being."

Milley had a slightly tired expression upon hearing this. "Right, kinda been doing that for the past few minutes." She muttered before her ears perked up. "Wait, what do you mean for the time being?"

"Oh! Right." Kelly said as the sounds of a keyboard clicking could be heard. "You see, Slade and Slay were in a different zone the time the request was made. They've been informed and on their way, while Slash is on her way with backup units." She explained.
