A/N: I'm so sorry this took so long. I hope you all enjoy. Also my requests are open so feel free to comment or dm me for anything else you might want me to write
You were walking down the hall the day after the ball. To say you hadn't enjoyed yourself the night before would be a lie. You really tried to avoid it before but you were grateful Sif and Thor convinced you to attend. Though you wished you had gotten the chance to talk to Loki last night. To be utterly honest you couldn't work up the nerves to talk to him yourself, he looked so handsome and put together. Lost in your thoughts, you turned the corner and slammed against something, or more accurately, someone.
"I'm so sor-" you look up and see the younger and in your opinion more handsome prince of Asgard. "Loki, excuse me, I'm so sorry," you quickly say and run off before giving Loki the opportunity to say anything. You wish you had the courage to stand there and actually talk to him but since Sif and Eir pointed out your feelings, you had been terrified of making a big fool of yourself in front of Loki. This fear caused you to avoid him at all cost. You worried that if he found out that you liked him, he would let you down. You'd rather have the little bit of hope that maybe just maybe he liked you too. If Loki let you done, that hope would be extinguished.
Loki sighed, yet again you ran off without giving him a glance or a chance to speak up. Loki wanted to talk to you, to tell you how amazing you looked last night. He knew you probably didn't feel the same. Why would you look at him when you could be with Thor? Loki sighed looking down dejected as Sif was passing by. Sif patted the young prince's back.
"What's wrong Loki?" she asked, startling him.
"Oh Sif, nothing at all," Loki replied in the most upbeat smooth voice he could muster.
"Nonsense, Loki. I am your friend, you don't have to put up that facade in front of me. Now, what happened? What has got you so upset?" Sif asked.
"It's nothing Sif, nothing at all. Shall we play a prank on my brother?"
"Not until you tell me what has gotten you so melancholic."
"Sif-"
"Loki," she stared at him with a pointed look.
Loki sighed knowing he wasn't going to get anywhere with this. Sif wasn't going to let it go and if he didn't tell her now, she'd bring it up when the rest of their friends (including you) were there. He'd rather avoid you finding out and the rest would make fun of him. Even Sif might make fun of him.
"It's just this magic spell mother has been teaching me, I can't quite get it right," Loki sighed.
He didn't lie exactly, Frigga was truly teaching him a spell that he was having trouble with, though that might have more to do with the fact that his mind was on you rather than learning. Not that he'd admit that to Sif, or anyone for that matter.
"Oh Loki, you'll get it soon, magic comes easily to you. Now, let's talk about last night, I couldn't help but notice your eyes were on a certain someone all night."
"I wasn't staring at Y/N."
"Uh huh, I never said her name," Sif grinned.
Loki's eyes grew as he realized what he had done, while his cheeks rapidly turned scarlet.
"It's okay Loki, anyone with half a brain could tell you like Y/N just as much as she likes you."
"No, she doesn't. Why would Y/N like me? She probably has her heart set on my brother, the mighty Thor, just like all the girls in the realm. Besides, she can't bear to be anywhere near me. She runs off every chance she gets."
"By the gods, you both are dense. Y/N runs off because she likes you. Thor is like an annoying brother to her. Besides, if you bothered to look at any other girl, you'd notice there are many girls that would prefer you to Thor. If you don't believe me, just ask Y/N out on a date."
"I would love to if she'd stick around to decline," Loki sighed.
"She won't decline, I guarantee it. I'll bet you my sword."
"Deal."
~Time Skip~
The next time Loki saw you, you were in the garden reading a book on magic and trying, in vain, one of the spells. He decided it was now or never, he would have to at least try. There was no point in giving up without at least trying. He prayed that Sif was right and not just pulling his leg. He took a deep breath and muttered a spell to boost his confidence.
"Hello, there, Y/N. It's nice to see you here. The weather is so lovely today, perfect for learning something new."
Those weren't the words he wanted to say, he wanted to tell you, that you looked beautiful, that he liked you, that you were wonderful and that he wanted to take you out but he couldn't get himself to say any of that. He wondered had he made a mistake in the spell? He felt far more nervous than confident.
"Oh, Loki. I-indeed it is, a-are you going to practice h-here too?" you stuttered a little, being flustered by his presence.
"I could help you practice," he offered.
"O-oh no, I don't want to be a bother," you had smiled at him.
"No bother at all, in fact you can pay me."
"Pay you? Loki, you're the prince, I don't think you need the money," you laughed.
"Oh no not with money. I'll help you with your practice if you promise to go on a date with me." Loki smirked.
He couldn't believe he just said that, much of that bravado came from the spell, there was no way he could have managed that on his own. You looked up at him, shocked. After a few seconds of silence, his smirk began to falter, were you going to reject him?
You smiled brightly, "I'd love that!"
Loki's smirk came back in full. Maybe Sif was right after all. He sat down next to you slowly explaining the spell you had been attempting to master.
