"shuji," I spitefully say his name, making him smile wider at me. psychopath.

"I came to pick you up."

"pick her up my foot," Mikey monotonously says, as if he couldn't even be a bit bothered by shuji who was far taller than he was.

"Mikey," I warningly say, "it's okay."

Mitsuya had gone back to my side, protectively standing before me. he momentarily turns to smile at me as he hands me a glass of water.

"you don't have to be so scared, we're here," he lowly says as I take the glass with shaking hands.

"oy, zumi-chan, let's go," shuji sighs as he approaches me.

I quickly stand up to meet him halfway, not wanting him to cause a ruckus. Shuji is strong; he will beat them if I disobey him. the mischievous glint in his eyes says it all.

"Izumi, lie back down," Mikey says, still by the doorway. it was the first time he spoke so seriously to me, but I didn't have time to dwell on it.

Shuji leans down to my ear, the hairs on my neck standing involuntarily. my body remembers all the times he's come close to me, promising all sorts of things like running away with me where Kisaki couldn't ever touch me again—only for him to sit back and watch as Kisaki torments me. he touches my shoulder, pressing his cheek against mine to my disgust. my body flinches as if to say that I've never loved him, I simply needed someone to embody my hope.

now that I've met people who were genuinely kind, who acted in correspondence to their words, I realized how much of a fool I was to think that Shuji loved me.

"let's make a deal. you follow me out quietly, tell them it's of your own will...make them believe it's of your own will, and I'm not telling them anything about how much of an abomination you truly are," he persuasively talks to me, smooth and flowing, a master of manipulation.

I nod and step away away from him. Mitsuya had looked at our exchange in disapproval with a small frown on his face, Mikey remained expressionless.

"I'll go ahead," I tell them, offering them the best smile I could muster.

"no," Mikey stands by the doorway.

"Kurokawa, I'll take you home after you eat, okay? don't get with this motherfucker," Mitsuya scowls the last part, glaring at Shuji whom I assume was taunting him with a grin.

Shuji wraps an arm around my shoulders and I don't shake it off despite wanting to.

"you've found yourself lotta boyfriends, huh," he chuckles, "but I remain your main bitch, right? let's go."

"Mitsuya, Mikey, thank you for everything. I'll talk to you tomorrow," I bow at them.

"oy, Kurokawa," Mitsuya scolds, but I make my way to the door with Shuji. Mikey doesn't step away, and I look at him pleadingly. I don't want you anywhere near my mess, I try to make him understand with my eyes, but he clicks his tongue at me.

"go back to your bed," he stubbornly says.

"Mikey, Shuji's my friend. I don't think you're in good terms, but I want to go with him. you can't stop me from that."

he stares me down for a while before turning around and walking away, not sparing me another glance.

"fine," he snaps.

I ignore Mitsuya who tries to call for me again and leave the hospital with Shuji.

"did you tell them anything?!" he bellows.
