"Kurokawa Izumi is your biological sister, Izana."
I immediately let go of Izana's hand upon hearing his words. surprise had rendered me speechless, although I was still quite aware of how the room's atmosphere shifted suffocatingly.
"are you fucking with me...?" Izana says with a smile, his eyes quite chilling from my perspective even when I'm not on the receiving end.
"Izumi was adopted by my father from the Philippines." Kisaki's voice was serious as he looked straight at me.
I could only listen with an anxious, anticipating heart—it's not like I haven't thought of it before.
"I know about your real mother, Izana. she left Izumi in the orphanage because she couldn't afford to take care of her. of course, I only knew about you years ago when your biological mother died, they said she had an older son who was taken to Japan...and when I learned about your last name—even if you aren't really related to Kurokawa, I made sure Izumi has the same last name as you."
"you're lying, don't use me to get to Izana," I hiss as I take a step towards him, grabbing him by his collar.
"how many people are you planning to use and dispose?"
"let go of me," Kisaki spat.
"I'm not drugged right now, Kisaki! I can fucking kill you!"
"you think you couldn't fight back before only because of the drugs?" he seethes, reaching to choke me.
I could feel my eyes water and my throat contract—and yet, I couldn't throw a punch at him or fight back. he was right...painfully right. the drugs weren't the only things stopping me from fighting back; fear was my biggest prison. I am still afraid of Kisaki.
"you dare..." Izana silently says from behind me.
his hands grab me by my shoulders as he pulls me away from Kisaki, and before I could process it, his leg was extended in the air—it reminded me of Mikey. Kisaki's face was planted on the cushion, Izana's foot over his cheek. I heard the sound of the impact after.
Izana protected me.
"you're acting like siblings already~!" Shuji sings.
Kisaki groans as he sits up, gripping his stinging cheek.
"I'm telling the truth!" he hisses, looking over me and at Izana. "as if you're not looking at a female version of yourself when you see her!"
I could feel Izana's gaze on me before he reluctantly lets go of his hands on my shoulders. somehow, I was afraid to look at him. everything was a lot to process, and if he really was my brother, I'm afraid that it'd be too good to be true. I've had many experiences to know that good things don't last for me.
"Kakucho, watch her for me," Izana mutters before walking past me and back to his room. "I hope you are telling the truth, Kisaki."
he closes the door right after he steps in, leaving the rest of us unsure of what to do next.
"uh, hi, as I said earlier...I'm your brother's friend," Kakucho softly says as he pats my shoulder to grab my attention.
I turn around to face him. "is he really my brother?"
it embarrasses me that I sounded too hopeful.
"I firmly believe so," he smiles reassuringly.
"but Izana was unhappy with that."
"what do you mean?"
"he walked out..."
"ah," he says in thought before he holds out the plastic bag in his hand, "he was just overwhelmed. he hasn't eaten dinner yet, why don't you give this to him?"
