Takashi woke me up at midnight, continually apologizing for falling asleep himself. luckily, he had told Emma beforehand that I was with him so no one worried about me—or so I thought.
the moment I step foot in the living room after Takashi had dropped me off, I was fairly surprised to see Mikey on the couch. he stood up to face me the moment I enter, his face worried and tired.
"you're home very late," he quietly says.
I nod before walking over to my bedroom but he holds my hand.
"Izumi, I'm sorry about earlier."
"you better be careful of holding me as you please, Mikey," I hiss as I free my arm from him. "look."
I raise the sleeve of my sweater to reveal the bruises his fingers left from how tight and forceful he had held me earlier before I left. his eyes fill with disbelief and regret immediately, contorting to disgust and shame. his fingers trace over the spot carefully as he looks back up at me.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to...Izumi, I'm really sorry," he guiltily says.
"whatever," I sigh as I turn around to enter my room.
"goodnight, Izumi," he lowly says before I could close the door.
I ignore him.

for the new year, I went with Chifuyu, Takemichi, and Hina to the shrine—Takashi wanted to come with me but Hakkai sulked about it. we still planned on watching the fireworks together though, and I might look at good luck charms for couples while we're at it.
"what do you think happens to Kisaki now?" Chifuyu asks.
"dunno, maybe Mikey will kick him out?" Takemichi shrugs
"what do you think, Izumi?" Chifuyu asks as he wraps an arm around my shoulders to grab my attention.
"why does it feel like you're elsewhere?" he scowls.
I was busy looking for him in the crowd. he probably looks so good in a yukata—I want to take a picture with him too. seriously, if Hakkai didn't butt in, I would've been in the middle of a date with Takashi now.
"oy, Izumi!"
"huh?"
he sighs as he walks us farther away from Takemichi and Hina who were busy with each other...good for them.
"I feel so single, let's roam for a bit," he sulks.
who's gonna tell him I'm no longer single either?
"what were you saying earlier?"
"do you think Mikey would kick Kisaki out of Toman?"
"dunno," I scowl distastefully, "ask him yourself."
"still fighting huh?"
"yup."
ever since that day, Mikey and I ignored each other. I no longer woke him up in the mornings and I sat on a different chair while he still sat on his usual spot. he won't even look my way and quietly just lets me ignore him in peace. when I am in the living room, he won't stay there. if I enter a room, it's either I go back my way or he leaves.
Emma's very worried about us, and the house is very quiet now that it's devoid of our usual fights. while I do miss Mikey, the message needed to be sent. he can lose himself to whatever darkness lurks within him, but he should never hurt others for it. it's not like he isn't regretful of it, I often see his eyes stare at my wrist as if he could erase the bruise if he looked at it like that.
