I. ZHAO 'JULIE' JUNLI, so young and yet she has had so much taken from her—a child forced to grow up too quickly. She was forced to learn how to defend herself from the monsters dressed as people.
II. JULIE was only twelve when she lost everything. Death came for her father and a couple of weeks later death took her mother. A sickness was her parent's ticket out of this world. Her little sister suffered the longest until she was gone too. The same sickness almost took Julie but somehow she survived but now she was all alone. She had to do bad things to survive, things that she was ashamed of. She clings to the glimmers of hope she could find, looking towards fairness even in the dead of nights.
III. THOMAS SHELBY was Julie Zhao's hope as he came into her life. After seeing her skills he offers her a job as his spy. Someone to be his eyes and ears when he moves his family up in the world. Her soul yearns for freedom so she takes his deal.
