Craig's POV

Maggie is still unconscious. My brother said that her body sustained wounds more than any human body is capable of enduring.

It's a miracle she survived.
Maybe it is a miracle.

But I am not convinced, no human can survive an attack from the Shadows. It is just impossible. Human bodies are not created the same way as the immortals.

There is a hope blooming inside of me that it is quite possible that Maggie is the same as me. An immortal.

That, or the Shadows are using her as a bait to eliminate me.

There are a lot of possibilities but I don't want to think any of it. Bait or not, what's important to me is that Maggie is alive. The only problem that I should be concerned of is how to keep her by my side. So she won't ever leave me, again.

I've been staying by her side ever since I brought her. I was here when my brother attend to her wounds. I held her hand the whole time, looking helpless and scared that her life might fade right before my eyes. My brother said that her wounds are healing perfectly.

I brushed my fingers against the softness of her skin. Her hand is a little cold. Her fever has broke down an hour ago. Her bandages needs to be replaced soon. I leaned closer and gazed at her face lovingly.

"Open your eyes, please. It pains me to see you like this." I whispered. I knew she can't hear the words I am saying but it doesn't stop me from saying it nonetheless.
I leaned closer and brush her fringes aside to kiss her forehead.

Still holding her hand, I turn to look outside the large windows. I can see the storm is still raging outside. The garden is envelope in darkness, wind is howling as the rain continues to pour.

It was then that I felt a strong energy approaching the barrier. It wasn't dark and evil like the Shadows but it wasn't friendly either.

Who is it?

Seconds later, I heard a knock on my door. Oliver, my butler arrived.

"Master..." He greeted. It is customary for them to refrain using 'your highness' in the presence of another individual. After all, we have to be careful to whom we will reveal my identity.

"Who is it?" I don't need to elaborate whom I am talking about. I know that the strong energy had already arrived at the mansion.

"It's a woman, Master. She's at the gate. She demands to see Miss Maggie. She goes by the name, Amara."

I glanced at the sleeping woman on my bed, still unconscious. I held her hand closely to my lips and kiss it lightly.
"I won't let her take you away from me..." I whispered, before letting go and tuck her securely under the blanket.

"Call the maids to replace her bandages. Make sure there is someone guarding her in my absence. Inform me as soon as she awakes" I ordered.

"Yes, Master."

"And... Inform the maids for the arrival of our guest." In other words, prepare for battle.

Amara.
Are you a friend or a foe?
Why have you come for Maggie?
What do you know?

That strong presence of energy is not to be underestimated. It is strong, willful and much more powerful than it seems. I can tell from my experiences in the battlefield that those kind of energy belongs to someone whom is born in the second-class noble family. A family in the circle of the elites, more particularly, the same families with the Court of Heavens.

Amara. Who are you? Or to be more precise, What are you?
