Petra's POV
Jesse and I arrived at a village. It seemed peaceful at first, but we noticed that the villagers were running around in panic.
"Petra, didn't you have bad omen?" Jesse reminded me.
"Crap..."
The first wave of the raid came swarming in. "While you fight a raid, I'm going to go fishing," Jesse walked away.
"Wha- get back here!" I yelled at him.
"You got this!"
I glared at him as he sauntered towards an open field. I knew I could've easily taken down the raid on my own, but it sure would've been nice to have some assistance.
The last pillager finally died to Miss Butter and I let out an exasperated breath. I wiped the sweat off my forehead with the back of my hand as the villagers rejoiced.
"(Thank you for saving us!)" They exclaimed through their villager noises.
"Don't mention it," I smiled.
"(Would you like to stay for the night?)"
"Thanks, but I'll keep moving."
I said my farewells to the villagers as they sent me off. The raid lasted longer than I thought, but I had to do it myself, so maybe it was because of that.
I walked towards the little campsite near the border of a dark oak forest where Jesse watched from. "Back already?" He asked with a sly grin.
"Piece of cake," I shrugged, sitting next to him. "The villagers offered me to stay for the night, but I said no."
"The great Petra doesn't need sleep," he smiled as he did this weird motion with his hands.
"Maybe not, but I do need rest." Jesse handed me some cooked cod and I gladly munched on it. I was starving.
We stared at the bright campfire in comfortable silence, which I decided to break. "Out of all our adventures, which one was your favourite?"
"That's a tough one," he held his chin, "we've been to a lot of places. Hm... I'd have to go with the time we explored that desert temple."
"You activated the TNT that blew up the loot."
"Ah, but your reaction was the best," he laughed.
"You were with the TNT so how else would I react?" I rolled my eyes at him. "You're an insane idiot."
"The same insane idiot who saved you from being controlled by a computer."
"Alright alright," I sighed with a smile. "My favourite was the ocean monument."
"Which one?"
"The one where you distracted a guardian by dancing in front of it."
"That was one of my best moves," he grinned.
"It looked ridiculous," I laughed out.
We talked about all our adventures into the night. They never got old. Every time I heard or talked about them, I get reminded that Jesse was with me.
I looked at him explaining our adventures, even though I also lived through them. The dork was excited to tell our stories to everyone when we reached back at Beacontown. Yet, I don't blame him.
If he didn't agree to come with me, I don't know where I'd be. He seems to love adventuring just as much as I do. Which is really great! I would've missed the hell out of him if he didn't come along.
We've already lost Axel, Olivia, and Lukas. I couldn't lose him too. He meant more to me than anyone else.
M!Jesse's POV
Petra suddenly yawned as I finished rant about our adventures. "Tired already?" I smirked.
"I'm regretting not accepting the villagers' offer..." she rested her head on my shoulder and closed her eyes. "Mmm... Never mind, I don't regret it anymore."
I chucked and lightly rested my head on hers. "Is it because I'm the best bed you ever got?"
She stayed silent for a bit. "Sure. Let's go with that."
We both laughed and stared at the campfire. It was nice to spend so much time with Petra. She's so awesome at everything. Heck, she just finished fighting a raid on her own. I couldn't do that even if I tried.
Maybe I've formed a little crush on her on our journey. Sure, she doesn't know, but she doesn't have to. Just her company is amazing.
"Hey, Petra?"
"Hm?"
"You need to wash your hair."
"Wha-" She sat up and slapped my arm. I couldn't help but laugh at her reaction. When my laughter died down, I saw her reddened face looking furious.
"You know you're cute when your angry, right?"
She looked at me again with a harsh glare. "I'm not cute."
"You're completely right." She looked away with a slightly hurt expression. "You're beautiful."
Petra suddenly looked at me with her cheeks tinting to pink. "...you're not bad yourself."
I smiled and gently held her face for her to look at me. "I mean it."
Maybe my heart was saying that now was the time to tell her about my feelings. Or show her, in this case. I didn't know what I was doing until I pulled her into a gentle kiss.
Sure, it was just a small act, but that small act meant everything to me. It was the best feeling in the world. And I've had a lot of feelings.
I slowly pulled away to see her reaction. My heart raced, thinking she would hit me. But she just stared, which got me more scared.
"I um... I like you a lot Petra... like, more than friends..." I smiled nervously, not getting a reaction out of her. "Still think I'm not cool?" I asked awkwardly.
"Of course," she answered, just before grabbing my collar and pulling me into another kiss.
I assumed that she had the same feelings for me, and I was actually right! Man, it felt so great to tell her –– slash show her –– how I really felt about her.
One thing's for sure, I couldn't wait to tell everyone back home.
