I finally got to the palace where a beautiful garden stood. I have heard about these gardens in books, every romance book I have read has a garden in some way. It talks about how the flowers fragrance fills you, how they bring a smile to your face.
The green grass tickles my feet as I walk from the dirt ground to the flowers that line the garden. Jotun is just ice, only life is from the creatures. I have never seen anything except the cold frozen grounds of Jotun, not until now.
I walk over to a flower and test how true the books are, and they are truthful. The flowers indeed bring a smile to my face as there beautiful scent travels through me. Reds, blues, other colors I am unsure of the names surround me.
"It is beautiful." A woman walks up from behind me. I turn to her. "The garden. I've spend years tending to it." She gives me a warm smile.
"It is indeed beautiful. I have never seen such beauty before. All we have on Jo-." I stop mid word. She smiles
"Jotunheim." She chuckled. "It is alright dear, your secret is safe with me. I am Queen Frigga, but please just call me Frigga."
"You're Odins wife?" She nods. "You are very beautiful." She smiles.
"Thank you. If your illusion matches your true self then you are beautiful as well." She picks a blue flower and casts a spell over it. "Here, a gift. This will never wilt or lose its fragrance." She hands me the rose and I take it.
"Thank you." I smell it. "I see you also have magic. Loki must have learned it from you. He is very good with illusions." She smiles.
"I was his teacher." I nod. "Some secrets are to come to light and I hope I can count on you if Loki needs a... friend." She says.
"I will be here if he needs." I smile and she looks relieved. "Why haven't you told him?"
"We didn't want him to feel different. He is our son." I nod. "Shall I show you to your chambers?" She asks.
"That would be lovely if it is no trouble." She smiles and holds out her hand for me to take. "This is only an illusion Frigga. And from what happened to that Asgardian in Jotunheim I think I should refrain from skin contact." She nods then gracefully touches me skin to test if my words are true. She flinched as it burns her finger tip.
"I shall teach you to perfect your illusion." She smiles. "Until then I would agree with you." She then heals her finger.
"Woah, can you teach me how to do that?" I say in awe.
"Sure." She smiles. "Now, let's get you settled in, shall we?" She begans to walk away.
"How does Loki know how to keep himself hidden if he doesn't know he is-?" I ask as we walk out of the gardens.
"Odin put an illusion on him when he found him." I nod. "You are a very powerful young woman. Who are your parents?"
"Well, my Mother is Jotun but she had no powers that I know of. My Father seems to be a powerful sorcerer but he fled before I was born." She nods.
"I am sorry for your loss. Maybe I can help you learn your full extent on your powers." She offers.
"I think I have learned everything about me. But maybe there could be more. Thank you." She nods
"What have you learned?" We walk up a flight of steps.
"I have Jotun abilities of course. But I also manipulate molecules and energy. With the addition to regenerative healing." She seems to be in deep though. "I also have normal use of magic but have only learned illusions."
"Interesting." She says as we walk down a hallway with many doors. "I will give you the room two doors down from my son, Loki." She says as she comes up to a door.
"I don't want to invade your family space."
"Oh no worries dear." She opens the doors. A light blue decorated room sits in front of me, waiting for an occupant. "This room is only used for special guests. And I think you will do just fine." She smiles at me as I walk in the room with awe.
"It's amazing." I walk to the bed and push it with my hands. "Fluffy." I chuckle.
"Yes. I hope you like it. I will send a maid to help you wash and change." I look down to my attire. A short skirt and a small shirt covered in a shawl. Then I look at her with a floor length dress, shoes, and metal accessories.
"I guess Jotuns rules of attire are very different than Asgards." I chuckle.
"Yes. I suppose." She smiles. "I will leave you now. I must go talk with my husband on recent events." She losses her smile. "Good day Nimue." She nods and leaves.
I look back to the room. My cave has never been this full or warm; a bed, tables, cabinets, chairs, rug. There is a bathroom attached, unfortunately I have no idea what anything here does, water in Jotun was frozen.
I heard a knock on the door, I walked out of the bathroom to greet the person. The door then slowly opened itself, a short young lady walked in smiling.
"Hello Miss. I was sent to help you get ready for bed." She said.
"Yes, Queen Frigga said she was sending someone. Thank you." I smiled at her.
"Shall I start your bath?" I nod. She leaves and walks into the bathroom.
I would say I learned a lot in my books I read, things Jotun couldn't teach me, and that is a lot. Books were my life teachers, the windows to other realms and forms of life. A trick to escape your world just to end up you never left.
"Miss." The girl came back into the room. "The bath is ready, would you like me to stay and help?" I am not a spoiled princess that needs someone to help her wash like in the books...
"No, I can handle it." I chuckle. "You may go." I laid the blue flower Frigga gifted me on my night table.
"Alright. I will lay your nightgown on the bed. The towel for after your bath is on the bathtub side." She bows and leaves the room.
