(EDITED)
I sighed, looking up at my little 6 year old cousin, Hayla. She had brilliant short blonde hair and hazel eyes. She looked a lot like me, except her hazel eyes and spotless blonde hair. "Eliza, come play with me!", she cried happily, pointing at the playground. Yes, I was back at the park. It was only yesterday that the incident has happened.

"No, Hayla.", I said, sighing once more.

Her lip jutted out in a pout, and she gave me those lovable puppy eyes. "Hayla, I'm too old for the playground!", I exclaim."I'm also trying to find peace and quiet so I can relax!" Hayla whimpered. "Hayla.", I said in a deadly serious tone. Hayla cringed and nodded, heading back towards the playground. Man, that girl drove me nuts!

I lay my head back down on the top of park bench and close my eyes. I sniffed, the air smelling of fresh oak and pine needle. What a lovely day. I hope no one ruins it.

"Eliza?", a voice asked. I cringed, assuming it was Jackson. I opened an eye and relief swept over me. It was Shane, his hair still styled into a mohawk.

"Shane!", I said, picking my head up and grinning.

"What brings you here?", Shane asked, smiling back.

"Oh, having to bring my little cousin to the park."

Shane chuckled and sat down next to me. "What brings you here?", I asked. He shrugged. "I just thought I'd get some fresh air, you know.", he replied, staring off into space. It was my turn to chuckle. "So I guess I'd be seeing you around after all!", I exclaimed. Shane smiled and nodded. "Yea, I guess we did.", he said.

Just then, Hayla came bouncing back. I groaned and mentally slapped myself. "Eliza, Eliza!", she squealed happily. "Please come play with me!" I heard Shane chuckle and threw him a glare, which shut him up. "I told you, Hayla, no!", I cried exasperatedly. Hayla frowned and turned to Shane. Uh oh. "Can your boyfriend play with me?", she asked. I groaned and turned tomato red, while Shane just smirked. "Hayla, Shane isn't my boyfriend.", I explained."And no, he will not play with you."

Hayla scowled and ran off towards the playground again. Shane and I sat in an akward silence, until Shane decided to break it. "I like your cousin.", he said. I looked at him. His remark was a little surprising since many thought Hayla was annoying.

"What?!", I cried."She's annoying!"

"No, she's cute."

"Annoying.", I sang.

"Cute.", he sang back.

I threw my hands up in defeat. "Whatever, but I still don't think she's cute.", I said. Shane smiled proudly. That earns me another mental slap, plus the mental groan. Huh. He thinks Hayla is cute. Cute, of all words. Cute. It makes me want to barf.

As I sat there gagging, I realized Shane had put his arm around me. How comforting. I smiled to myself, snuggling closer to him.

I heard a deep growl. Uh oh. That can't come from a human.

As Shane slowly leaned in, a large brown and grey wolf tackled Shane. Hey, I was actually glad. I've only known Shane for like, what, 1 day, and yet he leans in to kiss me! Shane screamed at the top of his lungs. He screamed pretty girly. I would have to hold back my giggles, but either way I couldn't, I was too shocked to move.

As the wolf snarled, Shane started to yell. "Oh my gawd there's a wolf on me, help!", he screamed. He locked eyes with me standing there. "Oh, my gawd!", I scolded myself, as I reached over to pull the wolf off of Shane. The wolf snarled, locking it's dark brown eyes on me, ones that I could easily recognize. Jackson.

"What the-", I stammered, as the Jackson's eyes calmed down. I knew he was about to shift. He'd be butt naked in front of everyone. So I ran off into the woods, Jackson's wolf chasing me. When I got deep enough, I stopped, pausing to catch my breath. As Jackson reached me, he shifted, exposing his glory."Ugh, can you please shift someplace else?!", I complained, throwing. Hand over my eyes.

"Eliza, stay away from him!", Jackson yelled, ignoring my statement.

Eliza? It was always Elizabeth. What was up with him?!

"Just because you're Alpha doesn't mean you control my life!", I argued.

"It's not about being Alpha!"

"Then what is it about, then?!"

"Eliza, listen.", Jackson said, his voice soft."It's about being your mate." I froze, my hand flying from my eyes as I stared back at him, my mouth wide open. So that's why! All the lust filled looks, Jackson stalking me, and Jackson not acting as mean as he usually would. I couldn't take it. Jackson? My mate?! Hell no! I ran as fast as I could back to the park, away from Jackson.

I ran past Shane on the ground and ran to get Hayla, who was on the swings.

"Hayla, we've got to go, now.", I said.

Hayla threw out her pouty lip, but I knew I couldn't buy it. "Now.", I said in my deadly serious tone. Hayla didn't hesitate to get off the swings and run to the car. Beep! The car doors unlocked and I got into the drivers seat. Kayla hopped into the back, her lip jutted out and her arms crossed.

"Stop it!", I said to her, glaring at her through my mirror. She just looked away. I sigh and turned my gaze back to the road.

We reached the pack house in about 5 minutes, and as I hopped out I noticed Macie, Mia, and Cass waiting on the porch. Oh, right! They knew Jackson was my mate. Or so they thought. I marched right up to them, signaling for Hayla to get out of the car and into the pack house, and she obeyed. Once she had slipped past the door, I started to yell.

"You knew all all along, didn't you?!", I yelled.

Macie looked sheepish, as Mia and Cass looked confident.

"It was better for you to find out yourself.", Mia pointed out."It seems that Jackson actually did tell you, like he told us he would."

"He what?!"

"Um, be got kind of jealous of you and Shane. You know, mate stuff."

"I don't care! You should've told me!"

"We didn't know you didn't want to figure out yourself."

"Ugh!"

I stomped away and I went up 2 flights of stairs and into my room. When it comes to Jackson, of course I want to know! My friends know that. They should know that.

I flopped onto my bed, curling into a ball under the warm sheets. It was comforting, really.

Honestly, I'd rather have Jackson make fun of me in front of a huge crowd of hot guys than be his mate. I was supposed to figure out my mate at the age of 18 or up. Rarely did anyone figure out before that. It'd be awkward between us, now. My life is a mess. I should just reject him! That's much easier. I wouldn't have him as my mate, I wouldn't be Luna, but it would still be awkward. Not. Fun.

There was a knock on the door. I groaned and threw the covers over my head. "Who is it?", I snapped.

"Um, me.",someone said.

"Me who?", I said.

"Um, Jackson?", he said, but it was more like a question. I didn't say anything, hoping he would go away. It was silent for about 15 minutes, so I assumed he had gone. I got up from my warm and comforting bed and tiptoed to the door. I opened it slightly, so it was just a crack. I looked around. All clear.

I continued to tiptoe into the hallway, still peering around... WHAM! I ran into him.

"Sh*t!", I cried."I thought you were gone!" Jackson smirked. "Can't I just talk to you?", he said, leaning against the wall. I noticed he was only wearing black basketball shorts.

"No.", I snapped, turning to bead back to my room. He held my wrist, slight tingles going on inside of me. "Please?", he asked again.

"No!", I hollered, twisting to get out of his reach.

I managed to finally break free and run into my room, leaving a rather hurt expressioned Jackson behind. It kind of hurt me to see him so sad. I know that i couldn't deny him once I turned 18, which would be tommorow. "Eliza, please...", Jackson said, leaning through the open doorway, his voice trailing. I threw my hands into the air in defeat. "Fine, make it quick and simple.", I said, and Jackson nodded as if to agree.

"Okay, then, I did tell you we were mates, correct?", Jackson asked.

"Yea.", I said."And it freaked me out."

"Well, sorry, but it's true. It ruins my reputation of the coolest guy in school."

"Uh huh, and it ruins my reputition for hating you."

"Ouch."

"Shut up and get to the point!"

"Okay, okay. So I was wondering if we could keep hating each other in school."

I glared at him. "I hate you at school and anywhere else, it shouldn't be a problem.", I said. A flash of hurt shimmered in his brown eyes.

"Now, anything else?", I asked.

"No, I'll just go then...",Jackson said, turning around and heading through the door. Huh. I hate him with all of my life! Okay, I was exaggerating, but I still hate him. In some way. All I knew was that I hate him, but, there was another feeling. Was it really hate?
