"you have to be kidding me." my breath hitched, I bit my lip and felt something weird rising inside me, I wanted to cry, to punch someone — or something— or most importantly, disappear.
"wish I was. He just left, though." Niall said, his voice being low and steady.
I took a deep breath, once again; "did he say anything about me? or like, mentioned me?" I asked, staring at the wall in front of me.
he hummed in response, "no. but he did look quite sick, though."
I didn't want him to be sick.
"right. well, I have to go now," I lied. "take care, and good luck-" I cleared my throat, biting my inner cheeks, "what time will you be back?"
"by 6. should we order in for dinner?"
"no, I'll be the chef for tonight," I said proudly, grinning.
"yeah yeah; just don't burn the house down. bye, love you" he chuckled, trailing off.
"love you." I hung up.
slamming the phone on my desk, I huffed and grabbed a handful of my hair, tugging it. I was going to be over him, I was going to fucking forget about him. but here he is again, working at Niall's place. at this point, he's happening to be everywhere in my life.
so many thoughts crossed my mind, all at once.
what if he comes over? what if Niall invites him over? what if he sees me again? does he remember me? does he still like me? is he over the past?
I noticed my legs shaking anxiously, the whole world just felt like crawling on me.
right to my surprise, someone knocked on the door. I sat up straight and cleared my throat, "yeah? come in," the door opened. right, it's itzel.
the managers assistant. probably coming in for the papers, she is.
"Mr Waleed wanted the papers, if they're ready, sir," she said politely, her usual smile never leaving her face.
I nodded, gesturing myself up and gathering up the papers. my mind isn't here, I don't even know if the work papers are in order.
it was always with Louis. always him.
I eventually handed them in, my lips twitching.
I almost felt like fainting at one point. But I somehow decided to trail off, focusing on my job. I'll talk about everything with Niall eventually.

I took the taxi home. Since Niall works now, I won't be able to use the car frequently. Guess we'll need another one in then. Not that I mind, though. We've both got a pretty good amount of money saved up -- started saving when we moved in--, and that, was a pretty good idea.
So no, we've never really been in the need of money.
Shit, I have to stop by the shop. Dinner's on me.
"Uh, sorry, but could you pull off right there?" I told the grey-haired driver who looked about 80 years old as I pointed towards the shop nearby.
He gave me a small nod, pulling the break.
Right as I gave him the money, I got off and went straight in. I had to rush, it was getting late.
Grabbing some baby potatoes --Niall's favourite --, along with other random veggies, I took a quick turn to the giant freezer section.
To be honest, I had no idea what I was going to cook myself. So I just stared at all the types and brands of chicken, nuggets, frozen fish..? And even Ice cream. I kind of want to go for that one, actually.
