"In another life, I mean," said Taehyun, staring so surely into Beomgyu's eyes he knew that there wouldn't be any point running out of this one anymore.

"When did you find out?" He breathed.

"You said I reminded you of someone. The way you acted when we first met. You calling me Tae Wook just now."

Beomgyu wanted to slap himself right there and then at that moment. How could he be so stupid to actually Taehyun the name of his dead brother in his face? No, forget that. How was he supposed to tell the boy he was brother?

"Y-you're tired," Beomgyu tried to reason. "You must be hearing things," he said, wanting to pull away from the latter's grip.

"How long will you be trying to hide this from me?" Taehyun asked. Beomgyu turned around to see his big, brown eyes staring back at him, reflecting colours of all different emotions. But most prominently, hurt.

Taehyun was right. He can't be playing dumb anymore. They've grown so close, and to now see the sadness in Taehyun's eyes broke him.

"Tell me everything. I'll listen," he said softly, his grip on Beomgyu's wrist loosening.

His mind told him to run out while he had the chance. To keep Taehyun in the dark, just like how he had been all this while. But his body said otherwise as he sat back down, his mouth opening as he began to tell him everything from how they were brothers to how he ended up killing the latter.

To his surprise, Taehyun handled everything much better than he had expected. He hadn't the faintest clue why he'd anticipate for Taehyun to call him a monster, to fear him and never meet him ever again.

Ironic. Because that was exactly what Beomgyu had wished for upon meeting Taehyun for the first time. But without even realising it, he had grown attached to Taehyun. Not because he was the reincarnation of his beloved brother, but because of who he was as a person.

He finished his anecdote with a sigh, turning to Taehyun, who seemed to be still registering everything. Bit something in the glint of his eyes told Beomgyu that he understood everything perfectly, even if he didn't look like he did.

"You've always seemed like an older brother to me. Now I know why," he placed a hand over Beomgyu's, "hyung."

An involuntary wave of emotions came washing over him as Beomgyu felt teary-eyed all of a sudden. As if the invisible weight on his chest has been lifted, and the two now connected on a deeper level.

"I can call you that, right?" Taehyun asked, suddenly feeling as if he has stepped over his boundaries.

"Of course," Beomgyu replied with a smile, eyes glistening.

Walking out of the hospital, Beomgyu received a text from Yeonjun, asking if he wanted to have dinner at Taehyun's since Soobin and Hueningkai were there as well.

And 20 minutes, he found himself seated at the dining table with their hotpot boiling in front of them, nearly done. Ha Eun joined them too, choosing to sit in between Yeonjun and Soobin. While Yeonjun and Beomgyu were at the hospital, Soobin and Hueningkai were busy finishing their literature homework at Taehyun's while keeping his little sister company.

"How was Taehyun?" Yeonjun asked as the three turned towards Beomgyu, waiting for his answer.

"He seemed a little tired, but I'm sure he'll be fine," Beomgyu replied.
