Night fell, making way room for a dark velvet blanket covering the moon. Its shine is no longer present. And all that was visible to the human eye were faint lights in the distance.

But they weren't headed towards the light, no. Instead, they walked further into the darkness, light getting more scarce as the cold night wind snaked up their necks, a whistle playing briskly in their ears.

Click. Click. Click.

The sound of their heels tapping against the wet stone path echoing across the alley as they walked deeper. All you could see was the path ahead of you, nothing beyond that. Closed shops and brick walls stood by their side, the sound of their breaths and their footsteps being the only thing audible as their victim soon came into sight.

Secretary Ji instantly ran up towards Aeri, who held a hand up, telling her to stop.

In front of them stood at least a dozen men, all dressed in black wear, nearly blending in perfectly with the dark as the whites of their eyes flicked towards their direction. The sense of an intruder arising.

"Good evening, gentlemen," Aeri greeted sweetly. They didn't seem too pleased by her arrival as they stood straighter, as if they were preparing for combat.

In the corner of her eye, Aeri spotted the glint of silver under the light being held in one of their hand. "Oh, I'm not here to cause any harm. Let's just have a talk, shall we?" She cooed. They didn't look any more convinced.

"Boss told us to kill anyone who steps foot here other than our expected guest," spoke one of them in a low voice as he walked out of the darkness.

"Ah, so I guess the only way out of this is to get my hands dirty?" She asked, calm and composed, the shine in her eyes unchanging. "Have it your way then," Aeri smiled, eyes glowing.

All at once, they charged at her, fists and daggers raised as they ran towards her like a stampede of bulls. But the two ladies reacted quicker as they instantly vanished into thin air.

"Where did they go?" Asked one of them, their hands meeting nothing but air.

"Over here."

Swivelling, he turned around only to be met with the impact of a punch delivered to the side of his face as he recoiled back in pain, holding his cheek as blood starting to foam in his mouth.

"You little wench―" His sentence broke off as Secretary Ji kicked him in the groin, sending him doubling over as he collapsed to the ground, defeated with only a few kicks and punches.

"Who's next?" Aeri asked, feeling fired up as she turned to the group, smelling the fear suspending in the cool air.

Minutes later, bodies laid across the gravelled path, bloodied and bruised as Aeri kicked them aside. Only a few laid unconscious. The others had chickened out after witnessing what had happened to their fellow mates as they ran away, with a couple of injuries.

"They will wake up sooner or later," Secretary Ji shrugged. She turned around to see Aeri on her knees, her hand gripping her chest as she wheezed for air. Running to her side at once, Ji Yeon helped her up. "You're sick. You shouldn't have come here," she said, worry clouding her face.

"Y-yeonjun―he will be here soon, will he?" Aeri gasped, slight agony dripping from her voice. Secretary Ji didn't spot any wounds on the latter. All she saw was Aeri rubbing the left side of her chest vigorously.

"Yes," she breathed, her mind still focusing on Aeri's condition. "But madam, you don't look too good. We should probably head back now."

Before she could open her mouth to reply, the sound of her phone ringing resounded across the alley as she fumbled with her blazer to pick to up.

"Hello?"
"Mrs Choi. There's a problem at HQ," Yujin, one of her workers, spoke through the phone anxiously.
"Why? What's going on?" Aeri asked, feeling able to stand on her own as she broke away from Secretary Ji's grip.
"Intruders. They're attacking HQ. We need you now."
"Got it, I'm on my way," Aeri said at once.

Ending the call, she turned back to Secretary Ji. "A problem has come up at HQ, and I'm needed there ASAP. Stay here and keep an eye on Yeonjun from afar, okay?"

"Understood," Secretary Ji replied as they exchanged a nod. Aeri disappeared on the spot, leaving her alone in the cold alley.

Just as she turned around, the swing of a metal pole is stuck to her head as Secretary Ji collapsed to the ground, unconscious, at the feet of her attacker.

"And here I was wondering where our Hyewon ran to, looks like I've found her," Ji Woo smiled.
