Oakley POV
"Let me get this straight," Caleb says in the seat beside Thomas whose driving us. "August nearly gets you killed and you're... helping him by flying us all to Spain?" His British accent dripped off his words.
"His parents are in danger. They're only getting threatened because of me, so I'm going to get them out of there," I respond, staring out of the window as the outside buildings and trees blurs together.
I don't know what to think anymore when it comes to August and me.
I'm still set off with what he did, there's no doubting that. But I also understand why he did it.
Now, there's just a hollow feeling inside where my trust in him use to live.
Olivia puts a hand on my shoulder beside me, "Leave Oak alone, babe. Before she gets Thomas to shoot you."
Thomas raises an eyebrow and looks away from the road then up at me through the mirror. I laugh, shaking my head. He probably wouldn't hesitate one bit if I ordered him to shoot.
"Under no circumstances do you shoot Caleb, Thomas," I clarify. He nods his head looking back at the road. "Unless..."
Caleb turns around to glare sharply at me. I throw my head back into the seat with laughter, tapping Olivia. "Did you see the fear in his eyes, Liv? You're boyfriend's a pussy," I cackle.
Olivia smiles, "Yeah, I know."
Caleb turns fully around, "Livvy! You're not supposed to agree with that."
"We've arrived," Thomas says, causing my laughter, Calebs scolding, and Olivias snickers to halt. Each of us looks out the window. Jesus Christ. My eyes widen at the sight of the private jet just a few meters away.
It's fucking huge.
When Thomas said he could fly us, I hadn't expected this at all. I never thought I'd even fly second class when it comes to planes, let alone own a private jet.
"Wow," Olivia says beside me. I couldn't agree more. Thomas pulls over, adjusting his suit in the front seat.
I turn my head and my breath catches at the sight of him.
Why do my eyes always search for him? No matter where we are, I'll somehow always pin him out first from the rest.
A lump forms in my throat as I stare at August.
He stands tall, his hands in black pants pockets, with a black button-up shirt on. A silver chain coats his neck, breaking the black theme of his outfit. His hairline is freshly cut and his eyes are trained on my car.
He looks good. Really fucking good.
If only he hadn't done what he did. If things were normal between us, I would be in his arms right now. Leaning up to—
Things aren't normal, Oakley. Not anymore.
"Boss, did you hear me? We have arrived," Thomas states again. Snapping back to reality, I didn't realize everyone had left the car except me. I look over at Thomas whose holding my door open.
He lends me a hand to get out and I smile, taking it, stepping out of the car.
"Remind me to give you a raise or something, you're good at this bodyguard thing," I say to Thomas.
He smiles his thin smile and nods, "I just need you safe, Boss. I admire your--"
August approaches us, causing my heart to speed up at the closeness of him. Traitor of a heart for the traitor himself.
