The Girl And The Forest

CHAPTER - 6

Pauline Fleura's POV :

"The De Rosiers are here! " After hearing that, I quickly put down the tray of foods to the table and hides down my hand on my back with a small bow as a sign of respect.

We had their places to be visited cleaned and prepared.

We are currently in the grassy part of the forest. It was clean with a wide picnic blanket that had been laid. Several foods are there that includes several fruits such as green apples, tangerines, purple and green grapes, strawberries, watermelon, and some types of berries. The family declined having full course and so we prepared snacks and desserts instead. It includes breads, cakes, different flavors of pies, and in drinks, we prepared fresh fruit juice and a wine.

Since it's Lucinda and Rufu's 25th wedding anniversary, we had a special place for them two to have a romantic moment together.

We're planning that, at exactly 6:00 pm we will blindfold Lucinda and Rufus as we take them to that special place, as their children will do camping at the exact spot of their picnic.

"Hello, Ma'am " I jolted from my thoughts while looking at this polite young man with a shock. I know he is Patreece Hezekiah De Rosier and I know he has this pleasing personality, but I didn't expect this. I smiled at him upon giving him a little nod before saying, "Hello, my dear Patreece" He smiled back as he started on walking away.

I sighed as I think of Amelia, she's turning 18 next year and I wanna see her being happy with the man she loves--as her boyfriend. I looked at Patreece's back. I sighed. I wish someone like him for my daughter. Patreece is kind, polite, good-looking, and caring, and I want someone like him to be my daughter's boyfriend.

Speaking of Amelia, how are they? Most of the time I spent here outside my mind is occupied by the kids left at home. I know Amelia can take care of her siblings as she is responsible, but I can't help myself to be worried.

I felt a tap on my shoulder that made me look back. I saw our neighbor Ellen as she looks at me with a neutral look. "Let's get out of here, let's give them a moment while having a picnic and besides, we still need to go over to our husbands in the mango farm to prepare them foods and drinks for their harvesting this afternoon. " I smiled at her and nodded.

We took some of our stuffs before leaving the picnic site and makes our way to the mango farm.

Patreece Hezekiah De Rosier's POV :

After being greeted by almost all of the people of our town, they finally let us have a moment while enjoying the ethereal view of the outside world.

I looked around being in awe as I realized how beautiful our town is. Beautiful plain grass, colorful flower fields, tremendous mountains at far, fresh air, and for sure lots of rivers and streams.

I couldn't believe other people did not only dared to think about destroying the nature but they really did destroyed the nature just to give way for industrialization. And I must say, I am against to that. Now that I've finally realized how precious and vital nature is to any aspect, there is no way that I will be letting someone destroy the nature in our town... Even if that includes me disobeying my mom.

I looked around my surroundings once again--and I stopped. I couldn't believe it. Why are they here? And what are they doing in here?

"Milton, Eleanor! How nice to see the both of you. Thank you for saying 'yes' to our invitation." My mom and dad greeted them with hugs and some kisses. "The pleasure is ours Lucinda, Rufus" said by Eleanor Victorine who is now smiling while Milton Victorine is now laughing with my dad, probably hearing each other's dad jokes.

I noticed a person standing behind them and it was no doubt their daughter--Leona Ruby Victorine. I sighed as I think I know why they're here.

I saw my mom's eyes starting to get bigger while looking at me as a sign that she wants me to greet the parents as well as Leona. I sighed.

I stood up from the picnic mat and went over to the Victorines. I greeted them warmly with a smile as I went over to mom's side.

"Patreece is so handsome, right Leona,my daughter? " Her mother Eleanor asked out of nowhere, making me feel the rush of shame. Like how could someone asks a question about someone if that someone is present? What do I expect, Leona and I were gonna be getting married in a year now and so I should be used to this kind of things--not the handsome things but the romantic-sort of things.

I looked down hoping that Leona is feeling okay despite the pressure.

After like a minute, I heard a chuckle. I lift my head and saw Leona smiling. "Yeah, he's handsome but not so much, I guess" And with that she laughed again. Wait-what?! What did she just say? Oh, god! I inhaled as I tried myself to be calm, 'cause how could she say 'but not so much?' I pout that then turned into a smile after hearing her cute laugh. Okay I'll just let her be.

Ross Azariah De Rosier's POV :

I silently laughed while looking away as soon as I heard the question of Patreece being handsome. I looked at Leona, she's not my type. She's a shy one, very common. I am more into someone who is daring, brave, and unique. Leona is 19 and still acts like a kid who always wants someone to save her or protect her. Psh.

I waited for Leona's answer and I couldn't contain my laughter anymore when I heard her answer. "Yeah, he's handsome but not so much, I guess" I laughed. I laughed. I freaking laughed. Oh My God Patreece what an insult to the bone haha at least you're still handsome but not so much haha.

Mom and dad and the Victorine parents are having a serious conversation now, I can see Lauraine and Leona taking to each other while laughing, saw Patreece eating on the side of with Percy and they were talking about something with maybe regards to the food as I can see them examining some parts of the foods.

I sighed. I sighed as I stood up to reach for my personal bag on the table on the other side. I took out my diary and read my last week dream with that girl.

Without any knowledge of why we got in there. I found myself and the faceless girl in the forest running. She was holding my hands as I am puzzled about why are we running? Or we're running because of what?

I saw a U-shaped formation of trees and there is this small, old cabin on the side. She raised her index finger and placed it on her lips, telling me to be quiet. I stayed quiet while letting her drag me. As we're near the U-shaped forest, I could see a snake--a floating snake--no a huge floating snake-an anaconda! What on Earth!

She held my head, telling me that we're gonna crawl for the anaconda not being able to see us.

While crawling, I could see the long, thick body of the floating anaconda and it's huge head that is bigger than my head.

We keep on crawling as we finally reached the end part of the U-shaped forest. We ran as quick as we can and made our way to the old cabin, we can still see the anaconda's tail. I was so confused about her and me entering the creepy cabin. Aren't we scaping from the floating monster? I snapped out of my thought when I saw her opening a cabinet. And there it was, she showed me a book. She opened it, I saw some notes, dry sunflower, a picture of an unknown man, and a two raw eyes of a snake that is wrapped in a piece of cloth. I looked at her, still processing the things that she had showed to me.

I couldn't believe it! For the first time I heard the voice of this faceless girl that I love. "These are treasures" She said while giving me the raw snake eyes wrapped in a cloth.
