Recap

She looked Snape in the eye, noticing a smirk tug at his lips.

"Sorry, Professor. We were just checking the train." Cedric stepped in, slightly confused as well, Athena had never stuttered in front of him before.

"The other Hufflepuffs were here a few minutes ago, Mr Diggory. Besides, Miss Malfoy is a Slytherin." He pointed out, stating the obvious.

"I know, Sir, but she is also a prefect so I asked her to help me check once more. I didn't think it would be that big of a deal. I apologise." Cedric lied.

"Fine, seeing as though it is the first day, I won't dock you any house points. You're lucky you caught the last carriage, though I will have to share it with you." He snarled, swiftly turning to jump on the magically pulled cart.

Athena mouthed a quick 'thank you' to Cedric and he nodded back whilst Snape's back was turned before they jumped onto the cart themselves.

The ride up to the castle was only 10 minutes maximum but in the weird silence, it felt like decades were passing by.

Athena spent most of the time examining her shoes or fidgeting with her hands not daring to look up.

When the carriage stopped at the castle, Snape stood first and hopped off turning back to look at the pair.

"Straight into the Great Hall for the feast. And don't dawdle, you had your first warning before." With a swish of his cape, he was gone, heading straight towards the hall.

Cedric jumped down second and held his hand out for Athena to steady herself. She took it happily, causing another light blush to dust his face.

"That was weird, wasn't it?" He asked as they trekked through the halls.

"Snape is weird. Always." Athena laughed.

They chuckled amongst themselves as they walked at a fast pace around the castle. Luckily, the last few students were just entering the hall when they arrived at the big double doors.

Cedric and Athena nodded at each other before heading to their different tables.

She looked down the table at her brother first who gave her a questioning look. Then she caught the eyes of the twins who looked at each other and then back at her guiltily. Finally, she glanced up at the high table. She locked eyes with none other than her Potions Professor and head of house. He simply nodded at her slightly and went back to skimming over his house table to make sure everyone was behaving orderly.

She made her way over to the area of the table where her two Slytherin friends were sat; Cassie Beaumont and Aria Lenix.

They were her dorm mates from year one and it was only ever them three in a room. Although Cassie and Aria were closer together, she still hung around with them in classes, the common room and around the castle.

Athena squeezed in between Aria and a fifth year, smiling at both of her friends as she sat, just as the first years made their way down the hall to be sorted. McGonagall, as always, led the pack to the stool with the sorting hat.
