Present Day - 5 years later.

Monae!!!!..

Moooooooo!!!

Monaeeeeee!!!

"Girl, I know you hear me shouting for your ass"

Groaning loudly, I got out of my bed to open my apartment door for my best friend. If annoying was a person it would be her crazy ass, but I still love her. Opening the door, I was met with her smiling face as she smiled even bigger when she saw my irritated look. Rolling my eyes I turned to walk back to my bed.

"Why didn't you use your damn key Ryah?" I asked knowing she was following me.

"Becauseeee" she dragged out jumping on my bed.

"For one I love seeing your irritated face, and two it brings me great pleasure to annoy nosy Nancy's miserable ass," she said causing me to laugh as she referred to my next-door neighbor who couldn't mind her own business to save her life.

"I'm serious Mo, I don't know how you still put up with her nosy ass after what happened with your last hook-up" she referred to my past run-in with nosy Nancy.

A year ago, I met a guy at the club Ryah, and I went to, and we came back to the apartment. The next morning, as he was leaving, there is Nancy at her door sipping whatever was in that cup.

"He isn't the one that left the last time Monae or the one before that, or-"

"Thank you for keeping track Nancy" I cut her off.

"My name is Julia" she glared and went back into her apartment slamming the door.

Well, excuse me for not knowing your name if all you did was mind my business instead of introducing yourself. I rolled my eyes.

"Monae? I thought you said your name was Lucy?" He asked as he stood there looking confused.

F**k. Why is he still here?

"Why are you still here?" I voiced my thoughts as he flushed red "I-I was w-wondering if we could s-see each other again?" He stuttered out.

Staring at him for a few seconds, I couldn't believe he could get even redder, " No" I stated as I shut the door.

"Damn Mo, you need to get a grip of your life" my subconscious chuckled.

Laughing at the memory, I headed to the bathroom to get ready while Ryah left the room probably in search of food. As I stared at myself in the mirror, I could honestly say I'm happy with the person looking back at me. A few years ago, I couldn't even look at myself in the mirror but now all I see staring back is a 23-year-old business owner, who's trying to get a grip on her life.

After, blushing Billy I started seeing a therapist that is helping me in getting over my "past trauma and move towards self-healing" her words not mine. At first, I thought she was a quack when she said that but during the last year to now, she became more of a mother figure to me than a therapist.

It's so easy talking to her and she has helped me in getting over a lot of the things I've been bottling up, from running away from my foster parents to my life with him, and I'm thankful for her.

Speaking of her, I should be getting ready for my appointment before heading to the bakery. Getting out of the shower, I saw I was getting a FaceTime call from Cairo, rolling my eyes I accepted the call.

"What do you want Lee?"

"Damn beautiful, is that how you talk to your future husband?" He said and I looked away trying not to blush as he smirked at me. Cairo Levi Knight, ladies, and gentlemen. My former boss, and a close friend.
