22. Got Me Craving

Erika's POV

"Have a good day at school and don't be late when I come get you later" Taeyang said goodbye to me as he dropped me off. I nodded and gave him a quick hug before getting out the car. I made my way to my locker where Maya was already waiting for me.

"Happy Seollal" she smiled, pulling me in for a tight hug. I hugged her back just as tight before she released me, picking up a gift bag that she had stashed behind her.

"Thank you but you really didn't have to" I accepted her gift gratefully. 

"You're right I didn't have to I wanted to" she insisted. I peeked inside the gift bag to see two candles, some stationery and candy.  I thanked her again and pulled her in for a quick hug. I opened my locker and placed the gift inside. I pulled out the books I needed for my first couple of lessons. 

Maya and I walked back out to the school parking to wait for the rest of our friends. 

"So how was your Seollal?" Maya asked. I told her the events of yesterday and how I won the game of Hwatu. 

"Woah so you got ₩40 000? How much is that here?" she asked.

"It's like $49 here. The won is really weak I think ₩1 is like 12 cents here in New Zealand" I chuckled. 

"So technically if your family was to move back to Korea you'd be a rich girl?" she asked curiously. 

"Yes technically if my family moved back we'd be living comfortably in Korea" I explained. 

Airi arrived at the same time as Nancy. 

"Happy Seollal Eri!" Nancy said excitedly. I laughed and thanked them.

"Happy Seollal Erika I hope you had a good day" Airi said cheerfully. They both handed me gifts and I mentally screamed. 

"Guys but I said you didn't have to get me anything" I pouted. 

"Yeah but we wanted to" Nancy explained. 

I thanked them each with a hug as Tabitha arrived. She handed me a potted succulent and muttered a happy new year under their breath. I giggled and thanked them. We walked back to the lockers together so my friends could get their books. I opened my locker to put my gifts away. I felt a tap on my shoulder. 

I turned around to see Kina holding out a gift for me. I pulled her in for a hug. 

"It seems like my 'no gifts' rule was ignored by all of you" I murmured into her shoulder. I peaked into the gift bag. I saw a cherry blossom bath and body set and a few chocolates. 

"Wait how did you know I liked cherry blossoms?" I asked in awe. 

"Your nickname is Cherika" Maya and Kina said at the same time. I chuckled and put the gift in my locker along with the rest. Kina put her arm around my waist and walked with my friends and I to our first lesson. 

"I'll see you later at practice" she said before walking over to her first class. My friends looked at me with their eyebrows raised. I shook my head and entered the classroom with them. 

Kina's POV

As I entered my math class I was bombarded by Gale and Cassie. 

"Happy Seollal Cassie"I handed her a white envelope with cash in it which she accepted gratefully. 

"Thank you" she smiled. 

"Did you see your girlfriend this morning" Gale poked my ribs causing me to roll my eyes. 

"Yeah I did actually, did you see yours? Oh wait she's sitting next to you" I teased. Gale and Cassie flushed bright red as I laughed at their expense. Amelia walked into the classroom and sat down across from Gale, Cassie and I.
