Kina's POV

The classroom was filled with chatter as they completed the work Mx Lane had assigned for this lesson. I got up from my seat and silently approached Mx Lane's desk. I crouched down to their level so nobody would hear our conversation.

"Mx Lane may I please have a pass out. I'm not feeling well" I lied. Mx Lane sent me a knowing look before pulling out a piece of paper.

"Is anyone coming with you?" they asked.

"Gale and Cassie" I said softly. They scribbled something down on a piece of paper and handed it to me.

"Don't make it a regular thing or I'll get fired" they warned. I nodded and accepted the pass out gratefully. I collected my things and left the classroom. I made sure to go straight to the meeting point my friends and I agreed on this morning.

"Did you get it?" Gale asked hopefully. I flashed the paper causing Cassie to clap excitedly. We ran through the back exit of the school to where Cassie always parked her car. Once we passed through the security we sped off down the street to wherever our hearts took us.

"Your mom is going to kill you when she finds out you ditched school" Cassie chuckled and stole a glance at me in the mirror. I shook my head at her.

"She's not gonna find out unless someone tells her" I reassured her. Gale and Cassie shared a knowing look before laughing to themselves.

"You know you'll end up telling her" Gale teased. I rolled my eyes and flipped him off. We continued to joke with each other as Cassie drove us to our safe haven. I pulled a little bag of weed from the hidden pocket in my school bag and produced rolling papers from my pocket.

"What would we do without you Kina" Cassie cheered excitedly. I chuckled and pulled out a book to roll the joint on as Gale watched me intently. He had never been able to get it right no matter how many times I let him try.

"Damn you skilled with your tongue" Gale joked as I sealed the joint. I rolled my eyes at him and chuckled lightly.

"I'm sure Erika would appreciate that" Cassie blurted causing me to burst out laughing. I shook my head at my friend's antics.

Erika.

Just the thought of her was enough to send giddiness running through my veins. I was really and truly falling for her. I was falling fast and hard. There was no stopping me.

Cassie pulled into the abandoned skate park we always used to go to when we needed a break from life. I ran my lighter over the joint to make sure it was sealed properly. Once I was sure it was ready I lit it and took a long drag.

"Fuck that's strong" I blew the smoke out. Gale took it from me and took a drag. He coughed the smoke out and handed the joint to Cassie.

"Weak" I teased. Gale flipped me off and got out of the car. I got out of the car and made my way to one of the ramps. Gale and Cassie followed suit and we all sat on the ramp. There was silence between us for a while as we passed around the key to our relaxed mental state.

"Can you believe that we only have two more years of high school?" Cassie finally said. I took a drag from the joint and sighed, forcing the smoke out.

"I can't believe we won't be together anymore. Cassie's going to Korea, Kina might follow Zara in America and I'm going to Scotland" Gale added. I scoffed causing Cassie and Gale to look at me.

"I would never follow Zara. I'm sick of living in her shadow" I deadpanned. Again there was silence as my words mellowed in their minds.

"So what are you going to do if you don't go to America?" Cassie asked. I shrugged as I felt the high take over me.
