Erika's POV
"Your birthday is coming up soon" Aideen said while we were getting ready to leave the house. I exhaled deeply and shook my head.
"Not really. March only starts next week and I'm born in April. Your birthday is closer than mine" I corrected her as I changed out of the clothes I wore to school. Aideen stood behind me and plaited my hair into two dutch braids.
"Don't finals start soon?" she asked. I groaned and covered my face with my hands.
"I don't need to be reminded that I'm about to prove that I'm the family disappointment" I deadpanned. Aideen looked at me sympathetically.
"Erika. You know you're amazing at almost all subjects. Maths and Physics aren't easy for everyone" she reassured me. I looked down at the ground as she finished off my hair. She hugged me tightly before leading me out of my bedroom. We met up with the rest of my siblings who were waiting in the car.
"How's Kina?" Taeyang teased since it was only the four of us. My cheeks grew hot as all my siblings turned to look at me with a smug expression. Ever since I had announced the relationship on the sibling groupchat, I hadn't gone a single minute without them teasing me about it.
As soon as our parents joined us in the car we dropped the topic. The ride to Aunt Minhyo's was silent due to the growing tension between us and our parents. Taeyang had taken the liberty to fill Aideen in on all the drama that had ensued in her absence. Needless to say we were all still mad.
When we arrived at our destination I got out of the car as quickly as possible and took in a deep breath of fresh air. Aideen rolled her eyes at my dramatic behaviour.
"It's not my fault you all made me practically hold my breath because I was afraid to breathe too loudly" I exaggerated. Hyejin and Taeyang facepalmed as we made our way to Aunt Minhyo's front door.
It seemed like we practically lived here in the beginning months of the year. Christmas, New Years, Seollal and my grandmother's farewell were always at the Kim house. Not that I minded it very much because they had a cherry blossom tree in their backyard. It always reminded me of celebrating my birthday back in Korea.
"Hi kids" Uncle Seok-Jun said. He pulled me in for a hug as everyone walked around us.
"You're stealing Erika away from me" Aideen complained when the hug went on for too long. Uncle Seok-Jun released me and pat my head gently. I giggled and made my way into the house with Aideen.
"Where's halmeoni?" I asked. Aunt Minhyo pointed to the door and I saw her sitting outside under my favourite tree. I dragged my siblings with me outside to talk to her.
"Annyeonghaseyo halmeoni" I bowed in front of her with my siblings. She looked up and smiled when she saw us.
"Aigoo. You're here already? Wow Aideen is back as well?" she chuckled. A smile spread across my face as I sat down next to her. My siblings grabbed chairs and sat down as well.
"This tree blossomed early" my grandmother said as she looked up at the pale pink flowers above us. I watched as she picked one and placed it behind my ear.
"You all were born in winter. Erika is the only one out of the four of you that was born in Spring" my grandmother said. My siblings all chuckled.
"Of course she had to be different than the rest of us" Taeyang teased. I pouted as my family laughed at his comment.
"What do you want me to send you when I get back home?" my grandmother asked. My older siblings all began speaking over each other causing me to giggle.
