His love, roared louder, than her demons

Nicole's POV:

I stumbled out of the tent, my shaky legs making we wobble back and forth. The world wouldn't sit still, instead it swam around and around in my head. Voices and noises swirled around in my mind making my teeth clench. I could hear people calling out my name, but I couldn't tell them apart from the ones in my head.

"You didn't do it by choice, Nicole." Mary's voice swirled in my head. Along with the voice came a familiar buzzing sound, like an insect was trapped in my brain.

"They made you do it." I closed my eyes as I pressed my hands against my ears.

"They hurt you." My teeth gritted together and my eyes squeezed shut as a metallicy taste came to my mouth.

"It wasn't your choice to invent the maze."

No,

But it was my idea.

I found a pinch of balance and began to push my way through crowds of people. Their voices and the noise was so loud I just wanted it to end. I felt someone slam into me, but I just pushed by them.

I needed to be alone, away from the noise. Eventually, I found myself in a quiet place where the cars were lined up though that didn't stop the noise in my head. It just grew louder and louder til I thought it would make my ears bleed.

I let out a sob. That was it. I gave a cry as my back hit the door to the car. I squeezed my eyes shut and ran a hand through my hair.

Maybe when I opened my eyes up, it would be a bad dream. I'd be back home with a family and they'd come to my side telling me it was all just a nightmare.

I slammed my head against the car door. Wake up. 'SLAM' Wake up. 'SLAM' Please, wake up.

I opened my eyes as my chest rose and fell rapidly. The scene hadn't changed. The world hadn't evaporated. I was still staring at a sandy nightmare of a wasteland.

"Nick?" I heard a soft voice laced with an accent call out. As sigh escaped my lips as I slammed my head back one last time.

"I saw you run out and when I called out to you you ignored me." Newt said, slowly walking up to my side. "Are you okay?"

No respond.

"Nick?" Newt asked again, extending his firm hand to my shoulder. "What's going on?"
