RILEY'S POV

"I'm not in New York, Dad." I say through the car speaker system.

"What do you mean you aren't in New York? I thought you were going to start your internal tour of Stark--?"

"Another time. It's not like I don't know anything about it."

"This is your legacy as my heir."

"'Your heir'? I wasn't aware this position came with that type of notoriety." My voice laced with sarcasm.

"As my daughter, granddaughter of--."

"Howard Stark, would famous inventor. Big player during World War 2. I have been learning."

He sighs. "This is your family, Riley."

"One that I don't know, never met them. You know why? My parents screwed. I was created. My dad skipped. I was born. My mom decided she didn't want to be a mom. Gave me to my dad. My dad did not want me. Gave me to a bogus boarding school. Said bogus boarding school sold me to Russian bad man. All by the time I was five. I only had myself."

"I didn't know how to be a father. I did what I thought was best." He sighs before continuing. "Your grandparents died in '91."

"Car accident. Howard and Marie Stark. A deserted gravel road in the middle of nowhere. I know. You have told me that. What you have yet to tell me is if you ever told them about me." He remains silent. "Right."

"You have to understand--."

"Listen, I'm almost to Steve's, okay?"

"Why you going to Capsicle's?"

"Wow. Listen, I haven't heard from him in a while. I'm just coming to check on him." I make a turn only to be stopped due to a wreck. A black SUV that appears to have blown up. "Uh, Dad, I gotta go." He starts to speak when I hung up on him. "Call Natasha." I call out.

'Calling...Natasha.'

"I haven't learned anything yet, Rye."

"Actually, you might want to check on Fury."

"What? Why?"

"I think I see his SUV. It's not good."

"Okay? Give me something, Riley."

"Just do it."

Incoming call- Steve Rogers.

"Well, finally, my man. Nat and I have been trying to check on you. You have been--."

"Riley, I need you to come to the apartment. I already know you're in town. Listen, Director Fury was kicked out of the house and staying here. I need your help with something."
