I can't believe I'm about to go up against a Sith lord and the only thing I'm thinking about is the headache I have. The ringing of a small, piercing alarm had only been echoing in my ears for half an hour now, but the sound was growing unbearable. The worst part is no one on the ship, not even Spade, knows why it was beeping so much.

"If we don't shut off that damn alarm soon I'm going to cut my ears off," Spade grumbled.

I stared at him sitting in the back of the cockpit with me. "Well it's your ship, Spade. Shouldn't you know why the hell it's doing that?"

"No," he huffed, glaring at me. "I don't know everything, contrary to what you may think."

Suddenly, the ship lurched to the side due to a hit to the right wing. I fell to the floor and cursed. I knew I should've put on my seatbelt when we took off. The sound of the alarm got louder and louder, joined by the aggressive ringing of several other alarms.

"We're under attack!" the pilot, who's name I remember to be Peck shouted.

No kidding. I thought.

"What damage are we looking at?" I asked, not excited for the answer.

His face told me everything before he got the chance. Fear flickered in his eyes briefly before he spoke. "They've hit the main engines, w-we have no way to power the ship."

"Well that really scrambles my eggs."

Spade looked at me, bewildered. "What does that even mean?"

"It's an expression," I said, my tone even and monotone.

"Great," he scoffed. "We're all gonna die wondering how the hell that 'expression' makes any sense."

In one sudden movement, the ship took a dive towards the planet below, throwing me back against my seat. Spade, on the other hand, wasn't so lucky. He was tossed back against the panel wall and was knocked out instantly. Peck must have been screaming because his mouth was wide and his eyes were filled with panic, but I didn't hear a thing. The roaring of the wind filled my ears and clouded my thoughts.

That was, until we hit to ground.

---

"Is she dead?" a murky voice echoed.

I couldn't move my arms or legs. In fact, I couldn't tell if they even existed at this point. The only thing I managed to do was open my eyes to see three bright suns blazing down on me.

"Oh thank the stars," Spade whispered. "If I had gotten a Jedi killed I never would've heard the end of it."

With a groan, I forced myself to sit up. "What the hell happened?"

"Are you serious?" Peck blinked at me. "The ship crashed, that's what happened."

"No shit."

I stretched out all my stiff muscles and heard the bones in my neck crack as I adjusted. Spade helped me to my feet, and I finally got a good look around.

The ship was shattered. I couldn't tell where the broken metal ended and the shiny rock of the ground began. Blood trickled down Peck's cheek, dripping from the gash on the side of his head. We had all been banged up and were worse for the wear, but that wasn't going to stop me from getting to the city, which I guessed was only a couple miles away.

"We need to get to Smula," I said.

The two clones looked at each other, clearly concerned. "Are you sure you're up to that?" Peck asked.

"Yeah, we barely survived that crash," Spade continued to reason. "How do you expect to fight a Sith lord?"

I chuckled softly. "Dooku is barely a Sith, much less a Sith lord. That guy was once a Jedi, you know."

"How does that make him any less intimidating?" Peck raised his eyebrows.

"He tried to shoot us down with some crappy droid fighters!" I exclaimed. "Clearly he's afraid of fighting me, otherwise he wouldn't have tried to kill me before I could get to his base."

Spade cleared his throat. "He didn't 'try' to shoot us down, he did shoot us down."

"Whatever." I waved my hand dismissively. "We need to go now."

We all gazed sadly at the remains of our only transport. Luckily, the boys had managed to find just two working blasters that they could carry. Instinctively, I checked to make sure my lightsaber was attached to my belt. Relief ran through my veins when I felt the cool touch of its hilt.

"If we're going to do this," Peck started. "We should make it look like the droid attack was successful."

We all nodded together.

"Do what you can," I ordered.

---

The sun here was absolutely insane. It was no wonder that the only plants that grew here were small, pointy grasses and spiraling, cactus-like weeds. I kicked a dark stone off the game trail I was following. I had no clue what kinds of animals inhabited Oress, but it was obvious that the tracks I was walking in had been made by a large creature.

When I got to the peak of the hill, I took a deep breath. In the crash I had sustained quite a few cuts to my legs, so the hike wasn't exactly pleasant. But my sigh wasn't out of relief so much as fear. The city of Smula was about an hours walk away. It sat in the dark valley, the skyscrapers reaching up into the hot atmosphere.

The Force here felt heavy and twisted. Count Dooku was here, there was no doubt about that.

As I turned around to see how the clones were doing, a groan escaped my lips. Black plumes of smoke floated into the sky, raising up from the flames that engulfed a space the size of a meteor. Peck and Spade stood an the base of the fire with wide grins on their faces.

"I said a small fire!" I yelled when I finished running down to them. "This is not a small fire."

Spade shrugged, never letting his smile falter. "Where's the fun in that?"

I shook my head. "Well, at least Dooku will have less of a reason to think we faked our deaths. There's not going to be anything left once this dies out."

"That was kind of the point," Peck said with a laugh.

"Alright, boys." I looked at each of the clones before turning in the direction of the city. "Time to make some stupid decisions."
