Y/N's Perspective
Sargasso, Outpost L51
Wednesday, 18/08/32"So now our main challenge is getting a Speetle then, right?" I asked as we ran through the area, my eyes now wide open and actively looking for bolts, since I'd subconsciously decided that I now owed Rivet.
"Yeah, pretty much." She said, casually whacking away a freaky, over-sized purple frog with her hammer. "I mean, apart from making sure these things don't get you. But they're pretty easy to deal with."
As soon as she said that, we heard a buzzing coming from the other side of an abandoned loading platform to the left of us, and I instantly knew we were in for a bit of trouble. Rivet and I ran onto the platform, Rivet pulling out her Burst Pistol and me pulling out my 1911, ready for whatever was about to reveal itself. Gradually, the buzzing got louder and louder until it sounded like the cause of it was either very close, or there were now a lot of whatever was making the sound, all of them just out of our line of sight.
"Needle wasps!" Rivet exclaimed as a whole group of ugly creatures began to fly up from under the platform and spit what I assumed to be acid at us. In the few seconds where I wasn't busy shooting, dodging acid or reloading, I quickly inspected them.
"They look like over-confident Mosquitoes to me!" I joked, shooting the last one out of the sky with a first bullet through the wing and a second one through the head. "There. I think that's all of them."
"You two dispatched them quite capably." Clank said, looking over Rivet's shoulder at the now Needle Wasp-free loading platform. "You do work rather well as a team."
"Thanks, Bolts." I said, smiling at both the compliment and the on-the-spot nickname for Clank as I walked to the edge of the platform and looked over the side of it, the coast clear of any more Needle Wasps. I scanned the area below, seeing multiple little islands going across the swamp acid river, as well as a cave emitting a purple light. "Hey, do you know what's in that cave there?" I asked, pointing at it.
"It appears some dimensional distortion is emanating from inside that cave..." Clank replied, recognising the purple glow of a rift on the visible walls.
"Well, a Speetle just raced into there, so we've gotta go in there anyway!" Rivet exclaimed, pointing at a Speetle racing into the entrance of the cave. "We must have scared most of the other ones away when we were fighting the wasps!"
I nodded and jumped down onto one of the islands in the swamp, Rivet following. After congratulating myself on not breaking my ankles, we quickly made our way across the rest of the swamp acid and dashed into the cave, the Speetle disappearing into a large group of purple frogs.
"Oh great, an entire pack of Horned Frogs to hold us up." Rivet said, rolling her eyes and sighing.
"Use the Shatterbomb." Clank whispered to me, and I nodded, equipping the glove and quickly throwing one of the projectiles into the middle of the group, eliminating all of them with the one blast.
"Nice quick thinking!" Rivet said, running around the corner the Speetle had sped around to see it disappear into a rift. "And the last Speetle runs into that rift... thingy."
"I may have a solution to this problem." Clank said, opening the small compartment on his body and pulling out a purple crystal shard. "Point the shard at the rift and it should re-open." He explained, handing the shard to me. I nodded, understanding the instructions given, and pointed the shard at the rift. Sure enough, it opened right back up.
"Woah... what is this place?" Rivet and I asked simultaneously, looking around at the new surroundings.
"I uhm-- a dimensional pocket? Perhaps a symptom of the Dimensionator's destruction." Clank said, looking around as Rivet and I walked through the strange place.
