Y/N's Perspective
Sargasso, Outpost L51
Wednesday 18/08/32The Seekerpede floated menacingly in front of us before activating a magnet which pulled everything metal towards it, including Clank, the InfoBot and mine and Rivet's implants. She and I held on to the bench with our organic hands, managing to stay put despite the force pulling against us. However, Clank was having a serious problem, and that problem was that he had nothing to grip on to.
"CLANK!" I yelled, reaching forward and just missing grabbing his arm as he floated towards the Seekerpede. "Rivet, grab my ankle on three!" I said, hatching a plan. On three, I was going to launch myself away from the bench and towards Clank so I could grab him and, hopefully, pull him to safety. "1.. 2.. 3!" I yelled, pushing myself forward with my feet and feeling Rivet's mechanical hand wrap around one of my ankles. I took a swipe to get Clank and missed, reaching out with my robotic hand and yelling out as the Seekerpede took him. The magnet turned off and sent me crashing to the floor as the Seekerpede left. I smashed my fist against the floor and stood up, ignoring the pattern of cracks I had made in the concrete. I ran to the broken wall and looked around, noticing a Speetle sitting idly down below.
I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, then jumped down and onto the Speetle, looking up at Rivet. "I'm driving." I said, waiting for her to get on. "Hold on, I'm a bit of a reckless driver!"
Rivet nodded and wrapped her arms around my waist, which was a sign for me to take off. "Hey, that's *our* annoying robot!" Rivet exclaimed as we gave chase to the Seekerpede, which had moved to flying over a river, giving us a minor advantage.
"Deploying amphibious explosives to neutralize hostile furball and unidentified flesh creature." The pilot announced, dropping mines into the water, which we avoided pretty easily.
"You think *that's* enough to stop us?" I asked mockingly, still giving chase to the terrifying, disgusting machine.
"That Seekerpede's Flight Stabilizer should be on its back. If we can get up there and hit it, we can send the whole thing crashing down!" Rivet exclaimed as we entered a section of the river riddled with jumps and sloped rocks to launch off of.
We used the river to our advantage, tricking the Seekerpede into slowing down occasionally by hiding from its line of sight, though we were always following it. When an opportunity presented itself, said opportunity being a jump that would bring us on direct course to land on the Seekerpede's back, we took it. As we sped along its back and towards the Flight Stabilizer, we realised this wouldn't end well if we stayed on the Speetle when it crashed into the flight stabilizer. "We've gotta bail, Rivet!" I exclaimed, pointing to a rapidly approaching platform as we got closer and closer to our target.
"We won't make that!" She said, looking at the oncoming platform.
"You have trust me, Rivet!" I exclaimed, looking over my shoulder and giving her a serious look. She nodded slowly, and we waited for the perfect moment to jump off and escape the blast.
"NOW!" I yelled, and we both jumped off, falling towards the platform. I screamed out, adrenaline rushing through my veins and wind rushing through my hair. I looked over at Rivet to see she was concerned about the landing, the only thing under us being the platform, which was made of metal. Acting on some sort of protective instinct, I grabbed her arm and pulled her to me. She shut her eyes and wrapped her arms around me as I tried to change where we'd land, aiming for a stack of crates in one corner. I only realised how much this was gonna hurt when I heard an explosion, presumably the Speetle running into the Flight Stabilizer. I wrapped my arms around Rivet as well, shutting my eyes and falling helplessly, praying that the boxes would cushion the blow a little.
