Chapter 6-Breakneck Bog

Selene's POV

I was in the arena with Crystal waiting for Hiccup and Toothless to get back. A man named Johann had something that Stoick seemed anxious to get a hold of. "What do you think it is?" Crystal asked me and I just shrugged my shoulders, I then saw Toothless and Hiccup fly into the arena. "Find him?" Hiccup shook his head and started to pack some essentials. "You're not going without us." I told Hiccup and he just sighed and nodded. He packed two fish and a jug of water. "Okeydokey. We'll start in the west islands and work our way back." Hiccup said then Stormfly and Hookfang came in with Astrid and Snotlout.

"Back from where?" Astrid walked over to us. "Uh, j-just a quick spin around the island." Bud Astrid didn't buy Hiccup's excuse. She walked over and pulled a fish and the water jug from Hiccup's saddle bag. "Uh-huh. Quick spin, huh? With enough food to feed Snotlout's entire family?" Snotlout came over and took the fish and water from Astrid. I just decided to tell them the truth. "A man named Johann should've been here by now, he has something that the chief is really anxious to get." I told them and Hiccup just gave me a grateful nod. "You're not trading this fish, are you? Cause it's delicious." Snotlout said. I gave Hookfang a gesture to take the fish from his rider.

Hookfang did just that, but he ate it. I just chuckled at the dragon. "Yum." Hookfang said. Snotlout walked up and snapped his fingers at Hookfang. Hookfang then regurgitated the fish and Snotlout still ate it. "When do we leave?" Astrid asked us. "We need to go alone. If we all disappear, my dad will get suspicious." Hiccup told them and Snotlout just laughed. "You two, without us? Like you two could handle anything if we weren't there to-" Snotlout then started to choke on the fish head so I walked over and punched his center belly and the fish head went flying out of his mouth. Astrid just gave me a fist-bump. Hiccup just groaned.

"Fine, you two can come with us. But don't tell the others, I'm serious." We we're soon all in the sky looking for Johann. "Toothless, what does he look like?" I asked the Night Fury. "He wear purple skin, and has a fuzzy face." Toothless told us, I looked down at Crystal and she just rolled her eyes. I then realized the twins and Fishlegs were there. I must've missed that part. "Wait, is that Johann?" Hiccup asked us. "I thought he had a bigger ship then that." Snotlout said and Toothless dove down and grabbed Johann by his shoulders and we went to a nearby sea stack. Johann seemed like he was bitten by a Fireworm. "The fog. The fog." Johann kept repeating. "Johann, where's your ship?" Hiccup asked the sailor.

"No idea. All I know is, one minute I was sailing in a perfectly calm sea with the wind at my back. And the next thing I know my entire ship is pulled out from under me, and I'm shark bait!" This guy is nuts! Crystal must've thought the same thing. "How has this lunatic survived this long?" Hiccup and Astrid share a worried glance, I give Johann the other fish but then hid behind Hiccup. I didn't like this guy. "Selene, it's ok." Hiccup then faces Johann. "I don't understand." Johann was about to take a bite of the fish, but he stopped to speak. "I do. I was three days late and trying to make up time, and I got to close." Fishlegs asked what Johann got to close to with fear laced in his voice. "Too close to, Breakneck Bog." Everyone else repeated the words.

"Many a ship has sailed into its waters. Few have returned." Fishleg's eyes looked like they were gonna pop out of his skull. "My grandfather told me it's pirates." Astrid said. "That's ridiculous! Everyone knows that it's haunted by a fog monster." Snotlout said. "Fog monster?" Fishlegs asked with fear in his voice. "The legend says the fog monster makes this really creepy moan." Tuff then started to moan, poor Fishlegs looked like he was about to have a heart attack. "Then he surrounds you and scrapes the skin off your bones." Fishlegs screamed at that. "And then he scrapes the bones off of whatever's under those." Tuff said and then Ruff added to it claming that the fog monster drops the bones out of the sky next. "Yes!Yes, it's true, what he says. It surrounded me." Johann told us. "Johann, we need to find your ship. Stoick is waiting for his gift." I told the sailor. "The gift isn't for Stoick, lassie. It's for Hiccup." We all turned the the one-legged boy.
