I knocked at Kirsty's room.
"Stop bothering me brother!"
I heard her shout.
I looked at Damian who is standing beside me. We're both infront of Kirsty's door.
I cleared my throat.
"Princess, it's me." I said in a soft voice.
Seconds after, the door opened and Kirsty rushed out and hugged me. I hugged her back.

"Oh, Casey. I'm glad that you're here." She said nearing to tears. I cupped her face. "I'm glad that I'm here too."
Damian was just watching us.

Kirsty glared at him when she noticed him standing beside us.
Damian shrugged.

"Okay princess, let's go downstairs and eat your breakfast." I winked at her. She think for a moment, then nod. Damian followed us quietly.

I prepared pancakes for us while Damian helped me by pouring milk on Kirsty's glass. Little brat. She's still ignoring her brother.

"So when will your parents return.?" I asked to cut the tension between the two.
"Uhm, Dad won't be here 'til next month. But Mom said she'll be back before school starts." Damian answered, sitting at the counter across Kirsty.
She started digging her pancakes.

Damian was silently eating, while Kirsty was chatting with me.
"Casey, can you please stay tonight?" She asked. I can see her eyes pleading.
I looked into Damian who was surprised with what his sister said. He then looked at me, waiting for my response.
"I-I don't know, princess. Maddie might nee--." I saw her eyes watered. "Oh my! Princess! Please don't cry."
Too late. Her tears went running down her sweet face. I pulled her close to me, hushing her. "Its okay. I'll stay tonight. I'll stay." I said trying to assure her. She wiped her tears. "Really?" She said, sniffing. I nodded.
I turn my eyes to Damian. "Can I?" I asked him. "Yeah, sure." He said looking at me then to Kirsty, then back to me again.

I rushed inside the house to my room. Maddie, sitting at the couch, saw me running upstairs. "Hey, why're you in a hurry?" She asked. "I'm going to stay at the Green's tonight and Damian was waiting outside." I replied. "Ooh, staying with him tonight, huh?" She said, witty. I rolled my eyes. "Kirsty wants me to stay there because their parents are out. She feel scared sleeping alone but Damian can't help her. She hates him." I answered 'as-a-matter-of-fact'.
"Oh, really? Poor brother." She winked.
Whatever. I rolled my eyes again.

Grabbing my things, some clothes and my toothbrush, I rushed back downstairs. "Enjoy!" Maddie called still sitting on the couch. I ignored her. She laughed.

I wanna hit a sister today!

Damian, from the car, started the engine as he saw me approaching.
I jumped inside his car. "Got all you need?" He asked. I nodded.
Then we drove off, back to their house.

I haven't spent time this long with Damian. Whenever I went to their house he's either out or inside his room. We haven't even talked to each other like what we did since this morning. I feel the awkwardness at first, but as we keep on talking to each other, I'm getting comfortable. Talking to him and being with him.
