Our Eternal Love

THE SEARCH BEGINS

I woke up in a diagonal pose. Calvin wasn’t there. I called out his name but no one answered. I picked up my phone from side and looked for messages. There was one from Calvin.

‘Off to office. Didn’t wanna wake you up. Love you X'

I messaged him back

‘You should have though. I would have made breakfast. Take your coffee on time. Love you more.’

After messaging him I slid down my covers and got off the bed. I took a long hot shower after a long time. Alone. I got out wearing my bathrobe while deciding on what to wear as I was gonna finalise my university. I don’t know if I can get in an ivy but I’m surely gonna go extra mile for it. Then there’s NYU if not any ivy league.

I decided on a denim high rise jeans and black ribbed top. I paired it with my black vans. I kept my hair open. I applied a coat of mascara and a lighter shade of colour on my lip. I was all ready to go now. I grabbed my documents and my bag. I put on my sunglasses since it was a sunny day in New York. I was gonna meet my friend who recently completed her post grad so she’ll guide me about few things.

I reached the cafe where I saw my friend Hannah sitting by the window. I greeted her and we ordered iced coffees and poutine.

“So how have you been?” I asked her.

“Great. Just completed my studies, got a job. How about you? It’s been so long. I think we met after our girls trip , right?” She asked.

“No I think we met in Canada when we both were visiting our parents.” I replied.

“Oh yeah. I remember now.” She said.

“So what are you upto now?” She asked. 

“Actually I needed some advice from you since you just finished up your grad school.”

“Yeah. Sure.” She replied with a grin.

“I was planning on joining a grad school here in New York. And I wanted to know what all I’ll need for the admission.

“Oh! Where are you planning to go?”

“ I am actually planning for an Ivy League mainly Columbia but I’d also keep my other options open incase.”

“Even I did from Columbia. It’s just great there. They’ll take your test and if you clear it you are all good. Also you need to pick up a part time job if you wanna save up some money. There are a lot of options near the uni.”

“Okay, that’s amazing. I’ll fill up all the forms today then. And which uni you suggest apart from Columbia?” I asked.

“NYU’s great , Yale’s pretty good but that’s far away.”

“Yep. Yale’s too far from where I live. I can’t work and study together then.” Also I won’t be able to see Calvin that much.

After that we talked about our university days and about many other things. It was good to see her after so long. A little later we bid our goodbyes. I filled up my forms online for all the universities I outlisted.

I checked my phone for any important messages. There was a call from Calvin. So I called him back but it was going straight to voicemail.

I was done with my university forms now. So I rested for a while which lasted for long actually. I picked up my phone from the side to check my social media. There was a call from Calvin and I missed it again. This is gonna be hard to manage. I called him and this time it was going again to voicemail. What the hell is this? This time I told him to call me and said him sorry for missing his calls and told him to call me back as soon as he gets this message.

I was so free that I literally had nothing to me. I was in no mood to watch a movie. I love to watch movies but now that I am absolutely free I don’t want to watch one. I got back to my reading. I was really waiting for his call. I didn’t hear him since morning.

It was six in the evening now and Calvin still hasn’t called. I went over to kitchen to cook something while keeping my phone close to me. Just a minute later my phone rang and there it was. My heart. I picked it up the second my eyes read his name.

“Hey.” I spoke with a sudden desperation.

“Where have you been. I’m missing you.” His voice was pleading.

“Me too. Ahh! This is torture baby. Pure torture.” I cried.

“I know babe. Ask me. I’ve been waiting to talk to you but because I took the day off yesterday all my meeting were postponed to today. So I’ve been attending back to back meetings.”

“Aww my pure baby. So are you free now?”

“Yeah. I am.”

“Great then. Come to my apartment. I am ordering food and I’ve a lot of things to tell you. So just come soon.” I said.

“Okay I’m on my way. Do you want me to bring something?”

“Yeah. Actually bring two beers.”

“Okay. See you soon. Bye.

I couldn’t wait to see him. It was like a teenage dream that had come true. I ordered chinese and pizza because I was so hungry since I just had a coffee and some poutine from earlier.

My order arrived and later on Calvin arrived too. He kissed me so passionately as if we met after years. Well it seemed like that.

I told Calvin all about the Universities and that I filled the forms and was just waiting for there reply. He wanted me to go to Columbia as he knew how great the degree is there. Even I wanted to go there.

We were eating our food and were watching ‘Indecent Proposal’ . It’s my all time fav. So I wanted to show ot to Calvin too. He’s not a rom com man but I’ll make him.

“Next time I’m choosing the movie.” Calvin ordered.

“We’ll see.” I said with the same tone.
