I fucked up; I know I did.

I should have told her. All I got from trying to protect her was her leaving. I can still feel how fast my heart picked up when I saw her grab her bag.

I thought she was going to leave me.

I sit down on my bed, my leg bouncing as I look down at my phone. The message is still unread. I put my phone next to me, looking up at the sky raking a hand through my hair.

It doesn't feel the same when I do it. I tug at my roots looking down at the phone again. Nothing.

"Fuck" I huff laying my back on the mattress.

"Give her some time," a voice says from the doorway. My head snaps towards the person.

"I know," I tell mom, pouting.

"Don't worry, you're a handsome man, and Juliet really likes you. She'll answer." Mom sits beside me, patting down my hair.

"What if she doesn't want to be with me anymore?" I wonder out loud. "

You haven't seen the way that girls looked at you. Have you?" Mom's face stretches in a smile.

"She looks at me like every other person." I shrug, my eyebrows knitting together.

"You're ridiculous." Mom looks down at me, shaking her head.

"What? She does!" I defend myself. I feel attacked at the moment.

"Aiden. She looks at you like you're the only person in the world. Like those books you like to read." She points at a book on my nightstand.

Juliet likes reading that one. I like reading it because Juliet likes it.

"Now, who's being ridiculous?" I give mom a bored looked. Mom rears her head back, scrunching her eyebrows.

"You still are. When she comes back, I'm going to snap a picture of you guys. Its called proof." Mom points her finger at me.

"If she comes back." I correct her. I want to think she'll want to come home with me.

"When. Don't argue with me." Mom slaps my thigh, making me groan and roll over.

"My leg is numb now." I sniffle to make an effect on my mom.

"Your just proving my point about being ridiculous." Mom gets off my bed, dusting off her pants. "Wont you look at that." She points down at my phone.

I jump off the bed, grabbing it and start pacing around my room. "What do you think she said?" I stress, looking up at mom.

She raises and eyebrow, "Open the damn text." I throw her an unsure look in which she replies with a glare.

I continue pacing looking at my phone. I gingerly press on the message and close my eyes not wanting to look at the phone anymore.

A harsh slap is directed to the back of my head, making my eyes snap open and scowl. "Stop being a child and look at it." Mom crosses her arms.

"No need to be so harsh." I mutter looking down at the screen that holds my fate. "Fuck yes!" I punch the air a couple times.

I reach out for moms' arm and high-five her hand. "Language, but I'm guessing her response was good." Mom's brows raise a little.

"Yes!" I nod feverishly.

"Go get ready then." Mom pushes me towards the bathroom before walking out of the room. All my previous nervousness seems to crash down on me.
