benny's pov:

yesterday i spent the day unpacking and helping my parents. dylan and i talked whenever i could. the house was coming together and i'm not gonna lie it looked pretty good. i'm supposed to facetime dylan pretty soon. gosh i can't wait to talk to her. i was snapped out of my thoughts when i heard a knock on the door. i got up from the couch to open the door revealing the girl i saw two days ago. she was a lot pretty up and close. shit benny stop thinking like that.

"hey." she said in a sweet voice. her crystal blue eyes stared into my hazel ones. "i'm lily and i was wondering if you wanted to play some ball with me and some friends?"

i scratched the back of my neck. "i- uh. yeah sure." she smiled a toothy smile. i grabbed my phone and we were on our way.

lily was nice. we had a lot in common. she kept on reminding me of dylan which was nice. we finally got there. it looked like the sandlot which was cool. a bunch of guys that looked around my age were warming up and playing a game of catch.

"hey guys!" lily called out to the group. they all turned their heads and waved. they all looked friendly until their eyes fell upon me. i frowned at their reactions.

they all walked over to us. "who's this loser?" a tall kid with brown hair and dark eyes asked in a cold tone.

lily glared at the boy. "this is benny, he's new so be nice will ya liam?" lily said sassily.

"cool so what he's new. but can he play?" another kid said. lily was about to talk but i cut her off.

"yeah i can, i used to play back in california." i said staring the guys in the eyes.

all of them rolled their eyes not believing me. "yeah okay." liam said pushing a bat to my chest. "you're up to bat first new guy." he said with a smirk. i took the bat and walked over to the batters box.

i practiced a few swings while everyone got into their positions. it was just my luck that liam was the pitcher. i nodded to him. he lifted his leg and threw the ball.

i waited for the perfect time to swing. once that time came i swung my bat. the ball went soaring. i took off sprinting to each base. i keep telling myself to just pretend it's the sandlot. i made it home easily.

i heard them all clap. "alright, he can play." one said and they all agreed. lily squealed and pulled me into a hug. i didn't hug back. i just kinda stood there awkwardly.

all the guys were smirking and teasing me quietly. i just brushed it off. when she finally let go we went back to playing. i kept thinking i was forgetting something but i couldn't put my finger on it.

dylan's pov:

it was now nine at night. benny was supposed to facetime me an hour ago. i tried calling but it went right to voicemail. i just brushed it off. he's been busy lately so i couldn't blame him. he could've texted me though.

"dylan! our new neighbors are coming over tomorrow for dinner." my mom yelled from downstairs. i sighed.

"alright!" i yelled back. i got into my pajamas and unpaused stranger things. i really need to find a new show to watch.

it was getting pretty late so i decided to go to sleep. i hope benny is okay and calls me tomorrow.

a/n : benny is already getting on my nerves and this isn't even the worst of it. thank you so much for reading! don't forget to vote ;) i love you all!
