~JJ's pov~
"Should we make him a wig?" Kie whispered while putting sand on John B's feet.
"Of course, we don't want the others mermaids to laugh at him and his hair" I said making a sand bra on John B's chest.
Kie was laughing. It's been a while since I saw her laughing. It was good to see her laughing again. Her laught was contagious I couldn't help but laugh.
"What the hell are you doing?" Asked Sarah.
"Shhh you'll wake him up" Said Kie while doing the last details of John B's tail.
"I wish I had a phone now" said Pope.
They probably woke up when they heard Kie laughing. And so did John B.
"What the fuck are you doing?" Said John B pulling one of his hands out of the sand.
"Don't move. We're almost done" I said.
"I win! He woke up" Kie yelled happy.
"I'm going to kill both of you" John B said.
"I think it's time for plan b" I said looking at Kie.
"Run" Kie said.
We both went in different directions while John B was trying to get up from the sand.
We've been running for a few minutes. When I came back I assumed Kiara was already there.
"Where's Kie?" I asked.
"I thought she was with you" John B said.
You could hear panic in his voice.
"We have to look for her" I said.
"Let's split up. Me, Sarah and JJ are looking for Kiara. Cleo and Pope, you stay here in case we get lost" John B said.
When I found out she was gone I had a strange sensation in my chest. Like I couldn't breathe. Something I knew for sure is that if I have to, I'll turn this island upside down to find her.
Sarah and John B were looking for Kiara on one side of the forest while I was looking for her in the other.
The forest was not really a forest, it was actually made up of several palm trees.
After a few minutes I wanted to go back and see if John B or Sarah had found anything but I heard someone yelling my, John B's, Sarah's, Pope's and Cleo's name again and again.
I knew it was Kiara. I ran as fast as I could to the source of the sound.
A few palm trees away from me was Kiara. She was sitting on the ground.
When she saw me she hugged me so tightly that for a few seconds I dissemble.
She was shaking. Her eyes were a little red, which meant she cried.
I hate to see her crying.
"I'm so glad you're fine" I said.
She didn't answer. She put her head on my shoulder, continuing to hold me in her arms.
"Did you see that?" She said suddenly, breaking the hug.
"See what?" I asked.
"There was a man right there" She said pointing behind me.
"There's nobody there. It probably just seemed to you" I said trying to calm her down but I ended up making worse.
"JJ, I'm not crazy. I know what I saw" She said.
"I didn't say you're crazy" I said.
"You know what, you're right. I'm sorry"
"It's okay. Come on, let's go back to the others" I said.
I still don't think she calmed down. She still seemed troubled. But we decided not to talk about this anymore.
Today was one of the best days ever. Except for the fact that Kiara got lost.
After John B's failed attempt to kill us, we spent the rest of the day surfing and tanning.
Towards evening it started to rain, the wind was blowing so hard that the palm trees were moving from side to side.
We were all around the fire to warm up.
"JJ today you had to take care of the shelf. Have you made any progress?" Sarah asked.
"It was today? I forgot. Don't worry I'll do it tomorrow" I said putting the fish on top of the fire to fry it.
"Don't worry? We don't know what's going to happen tomorrow. You had one job and you couldn't do that either. Can't you take anything seriously? " John B said angrily.
"If I remember right, I'm not the reason we're here" I said.
Suddenly I was feeling angry. I couldn't control my words.
"Are you blaming me?" John B asked.
"No one blames anyone" Cleo said.
"I'm blaming somone. I'm blaming John B" I said.
"Don't act like you've never took us into troubles" said Pope.
"Oh so are you on his side?" I asked.
I could feel my anger grow more and more.
"No one's on anyone's side. We're together in this" Kie said.
"It's his fault that we're stuck on this island where we're probably going to die" I said.
"All you do is blaming others" She said.
"At least I don't isolate myself and crying when I think no one's watching. You're not the only one with problems, you know?" I yelled.
That was the moment I knew, I fucked up everything.
I expected her to argue with me or throw a stick at me. Instead, she got up and started walking towards the rocks.
"Where are you going?" Sarah yelled. Her words could barely be heard through the sound of rain.
"I need to clear my thoughts" she said.
When she saw Sarah stand up she added:
"Alone"
"It's for your own good. Clearly you can't handle yourself" John B said.
Kie turned to John B angry.
"You know what? I don't know who told you that you're the leader but guess what? You're not. It is your fault that we are here" She said.
"Fine, go whatever you want to. But don't expect us to help you if you get lost. Again" he said.
"Fine I don't need you. I don't need any of you"
And with that, she turned back and left.
"Let her calm down" Said Cleo but didn't look too worried for Kie's safety.
I ruined everything. I need to fix this.
"Look, I'm sorry. I didn't have to blame you" I said looking at John B.
"It's okay. I exaggerated with the raft" he said.
"Should we look for Kiara?" Sarah asked worried.
"She needs to calm down. If she doesn't come back in an hour we go after her" Cleo said.
"It's dangerous to be out here alone especially since we have no idea who else could be on this island" said Sarah but John B was the one to calm her this time.
"She'll be okay, let's just give her a minute" he whispered mostly to Sarah, putting his arms around her.
All I know is that I can't lose her. Not again.
