There's a tree on the floor
On the floor of a room
Oh, the tree is on fire
It was fried on the roots
Drops its fruit on the floor
Maybe the fruit won't burn
When it cuts loose tiesI heard a splatter
But the floor was too clean
All I saw before me
It was just a loose peelLike your outer layer
As we shared responsibility
For a large plateau
It was sinking
And in the twists and turns
Of the ever shifting pressure
Of waves now ricocheting below
Your skin, your hands
And I wondered
How many constellations there must be
When strategizing a game
Of capture the flagAnd the fruit splashed
On the shower floor
I grabbed your hand
Some query on astronomy
From a crossword puzzle
And my fingers squeezed
A train whistle in the distance
Crashed through
I put on my suit, like an action hero
Excited and ready to jumpI'm filled with wonder
Every moment I'm awake
Did you know?
Did you know I was awake?
This room is dark
But in a smaller room
With the nightlight on
I wondered the same thing
It's been springs and falls aplenty
Since I turned that nightlight off
I think he knew
But I'm not sure about you
