Aiden"Um..."
Everything was going way too fast for me to keep up.
First I meet the soulmate that I don't want, then I discover she is a murderer but also a rewarded war hero.
Then, After envisioning this moment my whole life - How I'm going to gently reject the poor girl that crossed paths with me, how ill explain to her that it's not personal and it's for a greater purpose... I even replayed a scenario she starts crying and begs for me to change my mind, how then I'll be firm with my decision and sent her away.
Never have I imagined, never ever, that she will beat me to the punch.
I was speechless.
I just stood there and watched her, her eyes were sorrowful.
She crossed her arms and shifted her weight from one foot to the other, rocking side to side waiting for my response. It took me a while before I could find my words.
"I'm sorry, the past two hours were just a lot". I wanted the awkward silence to go."I know, I'm sorry too."
She gave me a sense by her tone that she was afraid to hurt my feelings.
"Well, I'll ease your mind. It's been a weird day, we both deserve to go to sleep tonight with ease. I think we should reject each other too."
She looked at me surprised, "You do?"
"Ya, I tried to find you to rip the bandaid off," I said somewhat relieved.
She had a relieved face as well which confirmed our situation to be easier than I thought.
We both let out a breath at the same time.
"Wow," she said.
"Ya I know" I replied. We were silent for a few seconds, enjoying our newfound relief.
"Well," Robin said, "For the rejection to be easier and not cost our lives, we can't spend time with each other. The bond needs to be weak before we break it with ease. So I guess in a week or two from now we will meet and say the rejection lines so it can be official. It will be easier for me because I don't have a wolf. You on the other hand..." she deteriorated.
"I got this." I was more than sure I could calm Phantom enough for this to work.
She looked at me for a second with doubt but then blew it away and just nodded.
"Well I guess this is it", I didn't know what was left to be said.
She nodded.
We both stayed glued to our places awkwardly, waiting for the other to go first.
Our eyes met and we just stared at each other for a moment. I was surely intrigued by her, I just wanted a minute to observe her.
She opened her mouth to say something but then decided against it and closed her mouth slowly.
I took the opportunity to get a really good look at her eyes.
Her eyes were now lit by a small light bulb glued to the ceiling in the small supply closet. They were green with brown orbs around the pupils. A beautiful pair of hazel eyes.
I noticed then our proximity to one another, due to the small size of the supply closet.
I don't know why at that moment I couldn't move or say something.
Then I noticed both of our heartbeats, speeding like we both were on a marathon when all we did was just stare at each other.
Her scent was all I could smell, all I could see.
