Aiden
I woke up to the smell of coffee.
I opened my eyes to see I am in an unfamiliar place and that I was sleeping on a surprisingly comfortable sofa.
I groaned and turned on my sofa. Annoyed I had to wake up from a really good night's sleep.
A mug of coffee was laid on the coffee table near my head.
"I don't know how you like it, so there is some sugar and milk in the kitchen if you want."
I heard Robin's melodic voice, it rushed the events of last night into my mind.
Phan was more than pleased that we spent the night close to our mate, especially after the stress and the forced shift we had the day before.
I sat up, still processing my memories.
I turned my head with half-shut eyes. She was getting some pans out, probably to make breakfast.
I took my mug, got up to walk over to the fridge, and took out the milk. All while still slightly dazed from my sleep.
"Thanx," I said when I realized I didn't respond earlier.
"How many eggs?" she asked.
"Sorry?"
"Eggs, omelet, how many?" she referred to the pan she had in her hand.
I turned to look at her. Her hair was a little messy, her pajama shorts popping from under her thin fabric robe.
The most evident about her look was the dark black circles around her eyes. I guess her sleep was different than mine. Phan whined not liking our mate looking restless.
"Umm..." I didn't want her to trouble herself with making me food, but I didn't want to offend her by declining.
"Two it is." She pointed at the dining table, referring me to sit there.
She already laid some bread, cheese, and orange juice on it.
I did as I was told silently after putting milk in my coffee. My head started pounding from my father, Lily, and Orion's attempts to mind link me. They freaked out not knowing where I was.
I grunted out loud. I seriously didn't want to deal with this right now. At least it's Sunday so I don't have to work today.
I then noticed the clock, it was almost twelve. Considering we stayed up till almost four in the morning last night I wasn't surprised we slept in.
Robin laid the delicious-smelling eggs on the table, looking at me with a wandering gaze referring to my grunt.
"Everyone's freaking out about where I am. Dad told Lily and Orion I had a forced shift and they won't stop hitting my head."
"Lily texted me and asked if I knew where you were. I told her no." She said while giving me a fork and a butter knife, and sat down.
"Why?" Don't get me wrong I was grateful, didn't think she'll lie for me though.
"Figured you would want time to sort your mind before going back out there." She said then took a bite from her eggs.
"Wait let me get this straight. You kept your best friend in the dark when she is worried sick, just so I could have a little bit more time to myself? The guy who showed up at three AM last night after he called you ugly names, made you clean up blood, and caused you nothing but trouble?"
Robin's eye roll was not unnoticed. "I would have wanted to be treated the same," she said and got back to dig in her food.
I looked at the table and at her eating. She really didn't have to do all this.
