Dead...
Chara and Asriel were dead.
Gone, either dust in the wind or a corpse.
Gaster did his best to comfort Asgore, as Grillby and Fuku tried also.
The goat monster was shaken, first his foster child had died and then Asriel followed to fast too closely.
He swore, just yesterday he had taken the duo out for nice cream and had a day out with them. They'd even been helping him look for a new house, as the city was getting to crowded and it was a quick easy ride by riverperson.
They'd never see him move in, or have the sleepover they'd been cheerfully planning to have at Uncle Gasters new house.
By the Barrier that hurt.
Toriel had left raging, leaving half the population hurt.
Everyone knew the words had been said in rage, in a grief no parent should know.
If she had waited, even a few days he would have withdrawn the statement of death of future fallen humans. Yet she hadn't, and fled like the coward she was.
Not even waiting for Chara's burial, or Asriel dust ceremony.
So many had fallen in the few hours between Asriels horrifying death and that statement, everyone knew they needed something to keep the populace going. If it meant a hateful comment Asgore would suck it up and so so, the kingdom came first not his own broken soul.
"Will you be okay for the next few hours?" Gaster asked, they all needed some comfort food.
"We'll be fine," Asgore said with a watery smile.
"I'll be back with food," Gaster said getting up.
"Take your time," Grillby replied softly.
Gaster took five feet, and went down like a tonne of logs.
"GASTER!"
