*Rachel's POV*

So, I'm stuck with Louis.

Isn't that awesome?

Isn't that just perfect?

Note my sarcasm, please.

I shoot Liam daggers, and I can tell they are working from the way he's avoiding my gaze and staring at his shoes. That boy shall pay for this treachery!

Wait a minute! What if this was all a setup by Liam and the others?

Time to interrogate.

"Hey, Miley!" I bounce up to her in a sticky sweet tone. She looks at me suspiciously.

"Um, hi."

"Mind if I borrow you for a minute?" I ask. My eyes begin shooting her daggers, but I keep using the same tone. She looks terrified. Perfect.

"Um... Well, actually-" She starts to make up an excuse, but I cut her off.

"Great!" I squeal annoyingly, dragging her away from her chuckling boyfriend.

We stop at a game booth and a chubby older man with a steriotypical carnival mustache is sitting looking bored.

"Is this on purpose?" I ask her seriously.

"Is what on purpose?" The redhead tries to lie, kicking up dirt with her  dark purple runners and avoiding eye contact. My eyes roll at the girl.

"Miles, don't play dumb with me, please. You know what. Louis and I ending up being partners because everyone else was conveniently taken."

Miley looks away from me before answering, "Alright, fine. Yes, it's planned on purpose, but it's for a good reason! It's time for you two to finally make up and at least be friends. None of us can stand to see you guys like this."

"Like what?" I ask stupidly.

"Now you're playing dumb." Miley states. "Both of you are so miserable. Look at him, Rachel. He's devastated. So are you, but you just don't want to admit it to yourself or to anyone else. You can't fool me, Rachel Payne."

A sigh escapes my lips. As much as I hate to admit it, Miley's right. Looking over at Louis, I notice the dullness in his usually bright eyes. The Doncaster boy's childish nature is gone, and he looks completely and utterly upset.

I sigh, defeated. "Okay, whatever, let's just get this over with."

With that, Miley and I walk back over to the Ferris Wheel.

Louis and I board the small car together, him sitting across from me rather than beside me. I furrow my eyebrows at the boy as he just stares at the ground.

He looks so...depressed.

Thinking about what Miley said, I decide to talk to him, just to make everything that's happened less awkward between us. Then, maybe there might even be the smallest amount of hope for us being friends!

"Lou?" I prod in a small voice. He looks up the littlest bit. "I think we need to talk."

Louis Tomlinson then nods ever so slightly, signaling for me to continue talking.
