Y/n's POV:

I got to school, I decided to walk today, since it was a nice day out before it got really cold. I saw Will get out of someone's car so I ran up to him. "Hey." I said with a smile. "Oh, uh— hey." Will said, smiling back. I grabbed his hand and Will kept his head down, which obviously concerned me. "Will?" I asked. "Hm? Yeah?" Will asked. "You okay?" I asked. "I'm fine, just tired is all." Will said. "Okay..." I trailed off. We walked inside right as the bell rang, so we just went to science.

"The case of Phineas Gage is one of the great medical curiosities of all time. Phineas was a railroad worker in eighteen forty eight who had a nightmarish accident. A large rod was driven completely through his head. Phineas miraculously survived. He seemed fine. And physically, yes, he was. But his injury resulted in a complete change to his personality. So much so that friends that knew him started referring to him as "No longer Gage." At the time, this was known as the American Crowbar Case. Although it wasn't a—" Mr. Clarke said but got cut off as Dustin slammed the door open.

"I am so sorry, Mr. Clarke. Really, I'm so sorry. Please continue with the class. Don't mind me. Really, continue, please. Thanks." Dustin said as he sat down, putting his bag down. "Although it wasn't a crowbar, it was a rod, as I said." Mr. Clarke said. "We have to meet. All of us. At lunch, AV Club." Dustin said as we all huddled together. "Why?" Mike asked. "I have something that you won't believe." Dustin said.

We all nodded and leaned back. Dustin turned back to Max. "AV Club. Lunch." Dustin said. Max looked at Dustin confused. "Dustin!" Mr. Clarke said. "Yes, my lord?" Dustin asked. "Would you care to join the class now?" Mr. Clarke asked in an annoyed tone.

"Please, yes." Dustin said as he reached over to get his book out of his backpack. "The case of Phineas Gage." Mr. Clarke said. "Phineas Gage." Dustin said.

"Page 104." Mr. Clarke said. "104. 104." Dustin said as he got his book. "Focus." Mr. Clarke said. "Focusing. Focusing." Dustin said. "AV Club." Dustin whispered to Max.

Max smiled sarcastically and did a thumbs up. Dustin smiled and did a thumbs up as well. Mr. Clarke continued to share Phineas Gages' story. I heard something growl in Dustins bag which made me glance at it. Dustin just worriedly smiled at me as he zipped his backpack shut.

::LUNCH::

We all gathered in the AV Club during lunch, huddling around a table that had Dustins thing from his costume on the table.

Dustin opened it, making us all look down into it. "His name is d'Artagnan." Dustin said. I scoffed as Dustin picked his new 'pet' up. "You named it?" I asked. Dustin nodded with a smile. Whatever the hell that creature is, I have a bad feeling about it.

"Cute, right?" Dustin asked. "D'Artagnan?" Mike asked in disbelief. "Dart for short." Dustin said. "And he was in your trash?" Max asked. "Foraging for food. Wanna hold him?" Dustin asked with a smile.

"No, no." Max said, shaking her head with wide eyes. I giggled slightly. "He doesn't bite." Dustin said. "I don't want to—" Max said but got cut off as Dustin put Dart in her hands. "Who cares if he doesn't bite?!" I said. Will chuckled and grabbed my hand.

"Oh, God, he's slimy!" Max exclaimed in disgust as she put Dart in Lucas' hands. "Ugh, he's like a living booger." Lucas said in disgust. Lucas put Dart in my hands which made me gag.

"Ew! He's squishy and slimy!" I exclaimed as I put Dart in Wills hands. "Ugh, oh, God!" Will exclaimed as he put Dart in Mikes hands. Mike didn't freak out, instead, he brought Dart closer to his face, examining Dart.

"What is he?" Mike asked. "My question exactly." Dustin said. Dustin brought out some books and put them on the table. "At first, I thought it was some type of pollywog." Dustin said. "Pollywog?" Max said in confusion.
