Y/n's POV:

We drove all the way to Joyce's house. Once we were there, we got out and I carried Will inside. I carefully set Will down on the couch. "Hey. Hey there, it's me. I'm sorry, bud. I'm sorry I wasn't there. I should have been here." Jonathan said as he played with Wills hair.

"Sam Owens. Dr. Sam Owens." Hopper said on the phone. Hopper continued to talk on the phone as I paced in front of the table where Mike, Max, Lucas, and Dustin were at.

"They didn't believe you, did they?" Dustin asked. Hopper turned around and looked at us. "We'll see." Hopper said.

""We'll see"? We can't just sit here while those things are loose!" Mike said. I glared at Mike, knowing that he shouldn't be arguing with Hopper. "We stay here, and we wait for help." Hopper said.

Mike looked at him with a soft look before he turned to me and stared at me. I stopped pacing and sat down beside Mike. After a few minutes Mike got up and grabbed something that Bob had brought here yesterday before everything went to absolute shit.

"Did you guys know that Bob was the original founder of Hawkins AV?" Mike asked. "Really?" Lucas asked in surprise.

"He petitioned the school to start it and everything. And then he had a fundraiser for equipment. Mr. Clarke learned everything from him. Pretty awesome, right?" Mike asked as he walked back over and out the cub thing on the table.

"Yeah." Me, Dustin, and Lucas said. "We can't let him die in vain." Mike said. "Well what do you want to do, Mike? The Chief's right on this. We can't stop those Demo-dogs on our own." Dustin said.

"Demo-dogs?" Max asked. "Demogorgon dogs. Demo-dogs. It's like a compound. It's like a play on words..." Dustin trailed off. "Okay." Max said in an annoyed tone. I chuckled and shook my head.

"I mean, when it was just Dart, maybe..." Dustin trailed off. "But there's an army now." Lucas said. "Precisely." Dustin said. "His army." Mike said which made all of us look at him.

"What do you mean?" Steve asked. "His army. Maybe if we stop him, we can stop his army, too." Mike said. We all got up and followed Mike to Wills room.

Mike picked up Wills drawing of the shadow monster and gave it to Dustin. "The shadow monster." Dustin said. "It got Will that day on the field. The doctor said it was like a virus, it infected him." Mike said.

"And so this virus, it's connecting him to the tunnels?" Max asked. "To the tunnels, to the monsters, to the Upside Down, to everything." I said.

"Whoa. Slow down. Slow down." Steve said. "Okay, so, the shadow monster's inside everything. And if the vines feel something like pain, then so does Will." Mike said.

"And so does Dart." Lucas said. "Yeah. Like what Mr. Clarke taught us. The hive mind." Mike said. "Hive mind?" Steve asked. "A collective consciousness. It's a super-organism." Dustin said.

"And this is the thing that controls everything. It's the brain." Mike said. "Like the mind flayer." Dustin said. Lucas snapped and pointed at Dustin. "The what?" Max asked. "What?" Steve asked.

Dustin grabbed Wills D&D book and we went back to the kitchen table. "The mind flayer." Dustin said. "What the hell is that?" Hopper asked.
