"I am so sorry about that; we don't know where her attitude comes from," Gilbert was apologizing profusely after the debacle at dinner. "It's okay, and all is forgiven." I kept assuring him.

We were sitting outside watching the sunset, and it was a beautiful sight.

"I didn't have a view like this in New York." I couldn't take my eyes off the work of art in the sky. Gilbert looked up at the sky with me, "Yeah, it is pretty good, I guess." I looked at him, "It's breathtaking!" I sat down on the bench that was on my porch, and Gilbert joined me. "The sky and the sunset are a reminder that there are so many possibilities for adventure," I realized how ridiculous I must have sounded, "Sorry, I didn't mean to get philosophical." "Don't apologize; that was beautiful," Gilbert smiled awkwardly. I smiled, "You're sweet, thank you."

My cheeks were getting hot, and I didn't know why. Maybe it was because no one had ever been this nice to me in what seemed like forever. "You're welcome," Gilbert genuinely smiled. "I know I haven't known you for too long, Gilbert, but I think we are going to be great friends," I opened up to him. "I think so too; I'm glad we got to meet."

I don't know what came over me, but I hugged him like I hadn't hugged anyone before. He jumped in surprise, and then he hugged me back. "Don't ever go away," I told him.
