This special girl, will always be an anomaly. Even tough she doesn't know it, she is the pure definition of diamond in the rough. Alex would hate how corny that sounds.
Alex sighs as she looks up from her book off into the sunset. Her book is quite boring, Pride and Prejudice, for her English class. Numbers and facts have always made more sense to her than love and the human race.
The image of the red-head boy pops into her mind. He seems too nice, like he's just gonna leave. She wonders about what if she told him how she truly feels, how would he react? Jack would probably think she's clingy and crazy.
Alex decides to call it a day, and drops her book on the floor. God, she hates books like that about love. She turns on her music and makes her bed. Then, pulls out the books she really likes.
Stories about brave female scientists who discovered things. Alex reads for about three hours, then gets a text from Jack, it starts raining.
She loves the rain, and maybe Jack. Even though she can't admit it to herself.
J: Hey
A: Hey, Annie.
J: Alex, you're the only one who can call me that. You know that, right?
Alex smiles, Yeah.
J: Do you maybe want to talk?
A: Like right now? It's pouring?
J: I thought you said you loved the rain?
She smiles again, Yeah I just wanted to make sure you knew it was raining.
J: Do you maybe want to go to the movies?
The girl grins from ear to ear blushing, Thought you said you just wanted to talk not a date. Lover boy.
J: Well... Yes or no.
A: Of course. What are we seeing?
J: It's a surprise. I'll be there in thirty minutes.
A: K, Annie.
Alex smiles and suddenly gets jitters. She hopes that Jack sees this as a date, because technically it is. Then starts freaking out about what she should wear. She starts looking at her closet, and freaks out some more. Alex finally goes with Nike gray sweatpants, AF 1's, a black crop top, and a flannel.
Alex never had any very fond memories of her home town, but wearing flannels always reminded her of her dad. How handsome and kind he would look, chopping down firewood. She had always thought that he could do anything.
She grabs the silver necklace with the cross that was her grandmothers. On to the make up. She decides to put a bit of concealer under her sleep deprived eyes. No use in freaking Jack out, they hadn't seen each other in a few days due to their busy schedules. Plus the nightmares were getting worse.
Alex's eyelashes are naturally long, due to her Greek heritage so she barely used mascara. The excited girl applies a tad bit of her vanilla flavored lip gloss and checks her phone.
Wow, it's already been 25 minutes, She thinks to herself.
She hears a knock on the door and opens it, Jack all soggy and wet from the rain. His hair falls down on his forehead making him look like he's wearing a red mop.
Alex starts laughing as she's backing away from the drenched boy. He smiles playfully as he walks over quickly to her giving a big wet hug.
He buries his head into her warm neck with soft hair.
"You think we should take an umbrella?" She asks smiling.
"Yesss," he says, "I forgot mine."
Alexandra tosses Jack the umbrella, and they head out the door. They get to the parking lot, and hop into Jack's car.
They drive for a bout fifteen minutes in silence.
"Have I told you how pretty you look today," He asks smiling.
She jokingly says, "Does that mean I don't look pretty every other day, Annie?"
He stutters.
"I'm kidding, I'm kidding, lover boy. You look nice yourself. Now could you please tell me where we're goinggggg?" She asks, she hates surprises.
"No can do Alexxxxx." He says.
She has an idea. Alex unbuckles her seat belt and leans in to Jack's neck. They had kissed a few times, but never really talked about it. There was so much tension between them.
She kisses behind his ear, and up and down his neck. Alex sees goose bumps on his arms.
He blurts out, "Fine, we're going to an old drive in and watching the Disney movies."
"Oh my gosh, really?" She says smiling.
"Yes," Jack pouts.
Her kisses are his weakness, she is his weakness. They arrive at the drive in, and they hop out. First they were seeing Hercules, Alex's favorite.
Jack opens the trunk and inflates his air-mattress. Then, gets out the many blankets and pillows. He turns around and sees a happy Alex smiling at him. She was so pretty and didn't even know it. The girl comes up from behind and hugs him, "I love this, Jack."
Butterflies form in the pit of his stomach. Jack gets out the cooler and bags of snacks, all of their favorite foods. Everyone waited until it got dark enough to screen everything, and it began. Alex and Jack lied side by side watching their movie. Until he feels Alex fall asleep on his shoulder, or so he thought. The boy brushes away a falling strand of hair from her face. And mutters, "I really like you."
She smiles sleepily, "I like you too, Jack." Alex rises up from Jack's shoulder, and grabs some popcorn. Jack made sure he brought plenty to eat, he wanted Alex to eat more.
After the first showing, they had a ten minute intermission.
They changed seating positions. Alex sat in front of Jack, with his legs spread. She rested comfortably against his chest doing something on her phone. He decides that it's time for payback. He moves her soft hair, to reveal her neck, he lets his lips graze on her skin. Then he begins kissing her soft skin, and begins to leave bruises. Jack earns a soft gasp of Alexandra. He got his payback. Jack began to lean back, but Alex turned around quickly and pulled his face down to meet hers.
Alex's hands tangle into Jack's curly hair. And his hands snake around her waist. The world stops for the two of them, they felt like they couldn't get close enough to each other.
Then, the loud familiar Disney song comes on.
Time for another movie.
