WARNING!Self harm mention.
Cameron sits down it front of Alex's door, listen to the soft, muffled whimpers escaping her lips. Small cries of, "No," and "Why." He does the same thing, but it makes him sad that she does it. A louder cry escapes her lips, he winces.
He had been up, rummaging for liquor.
He thinks to himself, Oh God, Wyoming. Why?
Cameron looks to the right, he's at the end of the dim lighted hallway, to make sure no one on the hall is awake. He opens the door, Alex sit's parallel from him. She has her jeans pulled down, with a razor in hand, shaking. The boy walks over angrily, and snatches the razor out of her hand. He throws it to the opposite side of the room. He stares at her with his fists in balls and jaw locked.
The sight of him, makes Alex scrunch up into a ball.
Mascara mixed with tears run down her face, but she says nothing. Alex stares into Cameron's arctic blue eyes. That makes you want to fall into them and sink to the very bottom.
Cameron pulls his composure together, and sits down, and spreads his legs into a v shape beside Alex. Then pulls Alexandra's light body in front of his. Cameron drapes his long arms around her shoulders, and rests his chin on her soft head of brown hair that always smells like vanilla.
A tear runs down his eye. He never thought that he could get this attached to someone. He had programmed his brain not to after so many long, depressing years. But, here came Alexandra.
He says softly, "Alexandra," he always called her Wyoming, but this was much more serious.
"What can I do?" Cameron asks. The boy wipes a tear away from the small girl in his arms.
She stands up, her whole boy begins to shake. Cameron doesn't know that to do.
"Oh, God." She whispers hoarsely. Alex digs her fingernails into her hand, causing them to bleed. The girl collapses, and has a shocked look on her face he can feel the heat off of her body. Cameron tries shaking her, but she doesn't snap out of it. She looks like she's in a different reality. Because she is.
He had read somewhere what holding your breath can stop a panic attack. So he leaned in quickly, and pressed his lips on hers.
Alex winces, "Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry." And she starts pulling her hair.
He picks her up, and puts her on the bed softly. Cameron then runs into the bathroom and grabs Band-Aids and alcohol. The boy was used to doing this, for his mom after hers' and dads' fights.
Alexandra lays on the bed staring at the ceiling.
He thinks to himself, Oh god Alex.
Cameron pulls her jeans all the way off, and starts cleaning the long fresh wounds. Alexandra still stays silent. This girl was never silent, that's when you know something is wrong.
He puts the alcohol away, and pulls covers over Alex. Then he climbs in the bed; he pulls the small weak girl onto his large frame. And strokes her arm gently creating patterns.
Alex finally says, "I'm sorry."
His jaw clenches, "You've got nothing to be sorry for, Alexandra."
She says grittily, "I'm sorry you saw me. You shouldn't be worried."
A tear runs down Cameron's face. He hadn't cried in a very, very long time.
"Can you tell me why you do it?" He asks, trying to stabilize his voice the best he can.
"I feel fucking terrible."
Cameron's' muscles tighten, "I had no idea."
She smiles, "Everyone either dies or leaves."
The boy pulls up the girl, so they meet eye to eye. Both red from crying.
In his deep voice, Cameron tells her, "Alexandra, the only way I'm leaving you is through death. You die, I die. I don't care if you feel the same way I do about you, I'll be here anyway." He leans her back down to rest on his chest. Cameron actually confessed.
"Why did he choose her, I thought Jack was my friend. He was going to be more than my friend. But she's so witty, smart. and beautiful. And kind when she wants to be. I know I'm being petty, but, Cam, why her?" The girl asks.
He's a bit jealous that she's sad about that asshole Jack, "People like Jack are always going to choose people like Scarlett. They just like to use people on the way to each other. Trust me, I know."
She whimpers, "I'm sorry you're seeing me like this. And I'm sorry I'm talking about Jack. I feel like I'm using you."
He smiles sadly, "Hey, hey, hey. Use me, kill me, hurt me, punch me, tear me apart, but don't leave me Wyoming."
Cameron holds out a pinky, Alex interlocks it with hers.
"Do you want to talk about anything?" He asks softly.
"Why are you helping me?" She groans.
He sighs, "Because I love you."
The room is silent for thirty minutes. Silently everything is confused and messed up.
Alex slowly drifts off into sleep for the first time peacefully whispering, "I love you Cameron Dylan."
And that, could not have made such a guarded boy more happier. But he still couldn't shake off all the trauma his Wyoming experienced and there had to be more that he wasn't telling her. Cameron was never patient, but he could be for her.
"I love you too Wyoming." He says back softly so he doesn't wake her up.
Cameron stayed up all night, making sure Alexandra was okay. He got up for nothing. Alexandra got up and 7:00 AM, as she always does pulling her broken pieces together. Soon enough, Cameron wakes up to the new light in the room.
"Hey," He says groggily. Looking at the girl who was in pieces less than 12 hours ago.
She looks at him, "Hey."
"When did you wake up?" He asks concerned. He actually slept well, with her.
"A couple minutes ago." That was the best sleep she had since... that night, and her dad.
They stare at each other silently.
Until Jack comes through the cracked door.
"Hey...Ale-" He says as always.
He stops mid sentence staring at his not-so-favorite person.
"What the fuck is he doing in your bed?" He asks Alex angrily. Jack almost never cusses.
She tries to stay calm...Cameron on the other hand-
"Just doing what you were supposed to." Alex mumbles.
"What does that mean?" Jack asks hurt.
Scarlett stands behind him, drama attracts her like flies to honey.
"You know Jack, I don't like how you pretend like you don't know what you're doin' to her." Cameron says. He's just being protective but shouldn't have said that...
"EVERYONE OUT NOW!" Scarlett yells.
She steps in the door, and sits down on Alex's bed. Alex just glares at her 'enemy.'
"I've got to admit, Alex. You can lure the boys in." Scarlett says.
"What are you doing, threatening me to stay away from Jack? He's yours now." Alex says. Real men come back, he didn't.
"Damn right he is." Scarlett says.
"So why- why are you here Scarlett?" Alex asks. Not making it verbally said the discomfort in the room.
"You need to get it together Alex. You're the best out of all of us, fine. I admit it." Scarlett says, while walking out of the room.
Alex rolls her eyes and scoffs.
