"Are you going to tell me?" Lilly asked breaking the silence after sipping some of her coffee. Her warm breath condensating in the cold weather of the backyard porch.
"We kissed." Y/N replied placing her feet on the coffee table's rim.
"Oh my God!" Her friend said, containing her exitement.
"It was a mistake." She said. "I had a dumb burst of confidence, tried to be cocky and it backfired. It shouldn't have happened."
"What do you mean 'it shouldn't have happened'?" Lilly asked. "There's definitely something going on between the two of you. I think it's time you acknowledge it."
"It's not like that... there was this... mistletoe."
"Are you seriously saying he just kissed you because a fricking mistletoe indicated him to?" Lilly asked. "The guy only has eyes for you. At the office, it doesn't matter how much all the other women flirt with him, he politely declines their proposals."
"That doesn't mean anything!"
"At the gala, he punched that jerk for talking about you. Even though he shouldn't have, of course... And didn't you say he pretended to be your boyfriend to the old lady?"
"And at the club, he got extra jealous when you danced with that guy. And even requested the DJ a specific song to dance with you..." She told her friend. "Honey c'mon! What are you scared of?"
"I don't know." She mumbled, closing her eyes and throwing her head back. "We're not kids anymore. Things have changed, I changed, he's changed. There's a lot more at stake now. We'll possibly have to run the Company together, and if things go wrong between us it's gonna be super awkward..."
"I thought you said you didn't know..." Lilly laughed. "That's too much pessimism love, think about something positive now. Picture this: what if it all works out, and you two end up together. Happier than ever, running the Company side by side. One hell of a power couple, with some tremendously gorgeous children who'd run around the Company and hotels the same way you two did when you were kids. Travelling the world and getting old together..."
"Ok, that's enough optimism to balance the scale." Y/N said stopping her before she could ramble any further. Her phone interrupting them.
"Sorry, I have to take this." She said watching who the caller was. "Hello, merry Christmas Peter!" She said sitting straight. "Is there something wrong?" Y/N asked confused by his tone. He had something to say but he didn't know how, she figure. Lilly stared at her with questioning eyes. "Can't you tell me what it is?" She asked once again, motioning for her friend to wait. "Alright I'll tell him, and we'll met you there in a few hours. Thank you." She replied ending the call and standing up.
"I have to go to the city." Y/N told Lilly. "Something's come up."
"It must be something important if Peter called..." She replied, and Y/N nodded. "Do you want me to come with you?"
"No, it's fine..." Y/N assured her. "I better go tell Henry..." She signaled. "Wish me luck."
"You've got this!" Lilly said hugging her goodbye. "And try not to kiss him this time..." She yelled once Y/N was a few feet away, earning herself a middle finger from her friend.
Y/N figured it wouldn't be hard to find Henry when she saw him through the kitchen windows as she walked back inside. He and Rachel seemed to be having a conversation. His back was towards the French doors didn't allow him to see Y/N walking in their direction, but Rachel did. And as dog trying to mark it's territory, she grabbed him by the neck and kissed him.
