Chapter 3

They were in their casual clothes as they step out of the hospital. The cold breeze of the night fanned as they walk the few strides to the parking area. The night was quiet as the streetlights illuminated their way to the parking area when a voice broke the solemnity of it "TRAIPIPATTANAPONG!"

Dr. Kana was blindsided as someone tackles him almost making him and his attacker topple to the ground.

"I miss you asshole! I told you to tag me along you brat!" The man was screaming as he held Kana's head in locking position with his hand securely holding his nape down as Kana continually taps it as if saying he was defeated "Stop it Mild! We're in a public place you dumbass!" He bellowed and Mild instantly lets him go freely.

"I almost signed the contract with Cambridge you fool! Good thing I heard the news about you declining." Mild gave him an angry look and all he could do was scratch his head in an attempt to think of a half-ass apology to Mild.

"Well, I had a change of heart." He mumbled almost inaudible but because of how quiet the parking space was,  it reaches both ears of Mild and Phana.

Mild was about to say something when Dr. Phana who was awkwardly standing and watching the interaction between the two cleared his throat to make his presence known. In an instant, Kana and Mild looked in his direction.

"I'm really hungry. Sorry" The doctor said with a shy smile.

"Oh sorry, Doctor Phana. By the way, this is Mild Suttinut a Thoracic Surgeon. Mild this is Dr. Phana, my senior." Kana introduce the two to each other. They both shook each other's hand after short greetings of acknowledgment. "Can we tag my friend along Doctor Pha?"

"It will be a pleasure." The doctor replied with a smile.

They decided to go to a restaurant a few drives away. They took separate cars and Mild insisted that he will ride with Kana. The entire dinner, Mild just took the responsibility to spark conversation. Phana had eased up to Mild and he was even exchanging jokes with Mild. Kana learned why Phana was on prohibition to enter the OP and he also learned that Suppasit's parents were in London for a seminar and they can't leave the country immediately so they are expected to arrive tomorrow evening.

The dinner was pleasant. They stood at each side of their cars "Thank you for the dinner, Doctor Pha. Allow me next time to treat you as well." Kana said giving a gentle smile to his Senior.

"Thank you, Doc! It was a pleasure to know you!" Mild said cheerfully while his hands form guns to Dr. Pha with a silly smile and a wink to finish it up.

"You're both welcome. It's good to have new friends." Phana replied and nodded to gesture he was off. The two got the cue and they went inside Kana's car and now both cars are going on different routes.

"Where do you stay?" Mild starts.

"That should be my question." Kana deadpans and stops at a traffic light.

"At a hotel near the hospital. I'm yet to find a condo. You know what? Let your bestfriend be in your flat. I know there's an extra room." Mild tried pushing his luck.

"Who said I'm your bestfriend?" And just like always, he was turned down without a blink.

"Have you found that person?" Mild asks changing the topic. It was an innocent question because Mild barely knew anything. All he knows was Kana is in search of someone. No name, no face – only the words that slip once was all he knew. When he tries to dig further he gets dismiss instantly. He doesn't try to push in further as it was Kana's privacy and he doesn't want to invade any further.
