Chapter 4
He calmly took stable breathes as he twisted the doorknob and he heard his own breath hitch as their eyes meet. He doesn't know how long he stared at him. He can feel himself sweating cold. Those eyes.
"Good evening Doc." He heard him greets him in a groggy voice. Kana gives himself a mental slap for being so unprofessional but he couldn't help himself. He really looks like Mew.
"Good evening Mr. Suppasit." He said barely above a whisper. I think if I speak louder my voice will just break.
He makes his way to the foot of the bed grabbing the clipboard consisting of Suppasit's medical record. He skims through the page barely reading anything in the process. He just needs a distraction.
"How bad was the damage?" He asks and Kana lifted his gaze to him.
"Not that bad." He said truthfully and took the chair near his bed to sit on it. "Though we have to remove your spleen due to trauma and excessive internal bleeding. We concluded that it was beyond repair. You may feel like you have flu, tired or nauseous for several days ." He explained.
Suppasit cleared his throat and shyly asked for a glass of water to which Kana delightedly comply. He pushes a button in the armrest of the bed and the upper part of the bed lifted a bit so that the patient can eat, or in Suppasit's case, drink without the hassle. Good thing that the staff already prepared water for him or else I would have to rush out to get some for him.
He guided Suppasit to drink the water but he did not anticipate him to distinctly reach for the glass as he drinks. Kana almost drop the glass if it weren't for the additional support from him. His heart thumps so loudly that he thinks Suppasit can hear it.
Kana was becoming more aware of his surroundings. Suppasit brought the glass down a little indicating that he was done drinking. He turns his head slightly to the doctor's side and he caught him staring at his face then their eyes meet for the second time today. The doctor's eyes were enticing to say the less. The Doctor's orbs were a perfect golden brown shade that reminds him of the beautiful bunch of dry leaves during fall. While Kana feels like he could give up forever just to stare at Suppasit's eyes. His gaze was paralytic. He doesn't know about our past.
The thought snapped Kana from his wonderland. He took the glass and cleared his throat placing it back on the tray of glasses.
"You can eat light foods tomorrow. You can gradually have your regular diet back. You don't have to worry if you feel full for even a small amount of food. It's common." He was trying so hard to ease the tension he feels. "Can I make a request?" Suppasit asks and thinking it was food-wise he answered "Sure, if it's not something that's bad for you."
"Feed me tomorrow." He said as if it was the most common thing to ask for someone who had a profession as a Doctor. Kana's mouth was left ajar upon hearing the request.
"W-what?" Kana asked seemingly cannot wrap his head around what he asked for him to do. Am I hearing things now?
"I know this is not the usual request you get but I... I just don't like interacting with other staff. Well, not in this state." Suppasit explained biting the insides of his right cheek.
Out of Kana's habit when pondering, his left thumb rubs the side of his ring finger that it can reach. It didn't go unnoticed by the other's observant eyes.
"Look, if you think it's a ridiculous request you can decline. Don't feel obligated about it. " Suppasit sincerely said "But I don't think it'll be bad for me," he mumbled under his breath and Kana knew he wasn't supposed to hear that part.
Suppasit it will surely not be bad for you but it will be bad for my heart. He took a deep breath and look at him who was avoiding meeting his eyes. He can see him blush and he didn't miss his red ears probably from embarrassment.
"He is aloof to almost everyone" it is as if he can hear Dr. Phana's voice. So does this mean he's comfortable around me? The thought made him smile unconsciously.
"Consider it done Mr. Jongchevevaat." Suppasit's head automatically snaps in his direction with a face full of disbelief upon hearing what he said.
"Just call me Suppasit, Doctor... " He trails off, squinting his eyes to see the name that was embedded in the Doctor's coat. "Kanawut. I'm Doctor Kanawut Traipipattanapong. Just call me Doc Kana." Kana finishes for him.
"It was a bit rude for me to not ask for your name. I hope you don't take it way offensive." Suppasit said trying to avoid his eyes again.
What's with him being flustered? Oh well, we're both flustered with each other. A sparks of hope was starting to spread in the pit of his heart but just like all the time he thinks of him he was slap by a hard realization, But he won't be if he knew what I did back then. He tries to swallow the nonexistent lump on his throat and tried to avoid looking at his face.
"Don't worry, I didn't. Anyway, it's getting way too late for you." Kana said with a smile. He went near his bed and pressed the same button so that Suppasit can lie comfortably. "You should rest." He tucks him in as if he had done it a million times. It was too late when he realizes what he did and he was sure as hell he looks red as a tomato.
He stood up straightly and added, "I'll see you tomorrow." As he took long strides to get to the door. His hand was reaching out for the doorknob when he heard Suppasit calls him and without waiting for him to turn he said "Thank you Doc and goodnight." And a wide smile can be heard in his voice.
Kana put his hand to the doorknob and twisted it open. He looks at his back to see him already looking in his direction and he reflects the smile Suppasit was giving him then he said "Goodnight." And went out of the room.
